this is my first post...last week gas was 2.65 a gal. then jumped up to 3.29. last thursday the paper said that the gov. stepped in and made a deal with the largest oil co. here in michigan and the prices wernt to go over 2.99 a gal. sure enough its been holding at that price. ive seen no lines, but its still a pain to pay this much and watch others get rich.......

Mr. Mom...welcome to G&G. We talked on CHAT the other evening. Glad you finally jumped through all of Jesse's hoops and barrels to qualify for the full G&G forum.

Anyway, today the price for unleaded gasoline in Kansas City is $2.97...down from $3.18. Never thought I'd be so glad to pay just $2.97 :insane:

Today some stations dropped from a high of around $3.70/gal to $2.99 here in Augusta, ME. Talk about psychology: we think that's good!

Exclamation

A station out my way was $2.67 this AM, with $2.87 the norm closer to town - except a danged BP which is $3.38!! An Exxon just a block from him was $2.87!

Still way too high - but better. Lets see it keep dropping!

Pretty good, Ruf. My little Toyota Tercel is getting 30 MPG generally. Mostly in-town driving.

Cost me $63.74 to fill my Elantra... Why is it.. ( with out atacking anyone in particular ) that petrol / gas or what ever you wanna call it fluctuates so wildly in price? I say this and people say as if talking to an idiot that oil price is world linked or whatever ( blah blah I just glaze over ) but what other comodity does this? And !!! doesnt motor oil flucuate like this as well??? Most but not all service / gas stations here will change thier price up to 4 times a day. To be honest, I am not gnashing my teeth over the price, its the same for everyone and you gotta have it eh.

Ooh, the CKCC (Cheap Korean Car Contest) is on...

Which model is yours, Rufus? My Hyundai Elantra is a MID-SIZE car and managed 42mpg on my last road trip, and that involved crossing the Apallachian Mountains. Did that by locking the cruise at 60mph. Payload included two young ladies and gear for a weekend.

Chevy 4x4 crewcab diesel gets a suprising 17-18 on the highway.
Toyota MR2 Spyder gets 28 hard city driving and 33-36 fast highway driving.

Subtract 3-4mpg from both when I am over 5000ft elevation.
