It was too close for comfort for me. I made it though with minor damage, but I feel for the people just to the West of me. I used to live on the MS Gulf Coast. I have many friends there I have yet to hear from. Devastating!

Reading this I am taken back to 1974, when 1 = the infamous `74 floods swamped my town and the capital of my state, my school had water 6 inches up the black board on the second storey. We had to que up for stuff.. 2 = a tropical cyclone called `Tracy` came in off the timor sea and flattened the capital city of the northern terrrtory Darwin. They had to fully evacuate the city for several months after. In my town, we thought it was cool, it was the end of year holidays so they got extended a few weeks. My point is, everyone pulled together, there was many instances of complete strangers helping people out, even saving lives and then never knowing the person they had helped or saved. There must be stories like that coming from this, but the doesnt seem to be too many... Pretty sad reflection on the times really.
i made it out just fine lost of old oaks blown over and some power lines snapped in half but other then that we done pretty good. now the food and gas situationis another thing i went to wally world with the wife yesterday (we are still under a dusk to dawn curfew and no alcohal sales after10;00) but anyway there is no meat and cangoods are scarce we kinda livin off of what we had in the deep freezer plus me and my youngest son found a store the other day just opening and loaded up on cambels soup( you know how they say mmm good ??? ) well try eating it for a few days striahgt . i filled up a bunch of gas cans with gas and i keep my guns by my side because we seem to hear police sirens everyday now and rumors of roberies. so i'm playin it safe.i have a sister-n-law that lives in ocean springs . thier house got flooded but it's still standing i guess thats good. oh and to top it off i bought a brand new john deere generator and as i was unloading it they turned my power on but i figured i'll have it for the next one.i sure hope they send some food down here soon we gonna be eatin the animals soon and i love the animals to much to kill them but man dey lookin pretty good let me tell you.speshaly dat squirel in the tree by my house mmmm :jaw:
Tommy...check out "foodworld" the one on cottage hill is fully stocked again..milk..meat veggies..everything.
P.S...post office in Mobile (some branches anyway) are open...all outgoing mail is being trucked to birmingham to be sorted (the regional center here still has no power)...inbound mail is being hand sorted at the local branches. most areas now have daily mail delivery
