I'm getting ready to buy a case of ammunition. It is meant for self defense. Its all loaded by the same people, so for a given bullet weight, the velocity is the same.
On the table are
180gr Golden Saber
180gr Gold Dot
or the slightly heavier and slower
200 XTP
Does anyone have any personal experience or preference between these three bullet designs? Or are they all quality designs and basically the same?
I personally am leaning towards the 200gr XTP. At 1250fps and 694ft-lbs, it seems like an excellent round. Big and powerful. I'm just not familiar with the bullet.

i prefer the XTP, it is an excellent bullet. ive shot many different things with XTP's in several different calibers and have been happy with their performance. XTP's are what sit in my house gun.
The Remington Golden Sabre is supposed to open up like a propeller. I have not found this to happen. I found out that they packed with heavy jacket insulation and fat and turned in to FMJ's.
Of the ones that you mention, the Hornady XTP is the pick. XTP is their notation for eXtreme Terminal Performance. They deliver the energy, into the body. They are still a hollowpoint design and will pack up the nose cavity on occasion, but they are better than the GS.
