I needed this one

I just came home with the full size Rock Island Commander .45
I did a bit of research before buying and all agree its one great gun for the money. The fit and finish are perfect.
My favorite gun dealer who I have known for years told me that there are fewer returns on this model than a Kimber! That sold it for me.
I've already stripped it down to pieces to get familiar with it but havent shot it yet. I will report on Monday how she does.
This is only the second .45 acp I've owned. The last was a Colt but as a few of you guys know, I have to hold a pistol a little different than others and am afraid of the slide and/or hammer bite. I think the beavertail on this one is perfect for me. I cant wait! Its taken me almost 17 years to try it again and dammit, I know I can do it!

I look forward to the range report. I think my next handgun will be a .45acp

I went through a few boxes of ammo and it worked perfectly. Not one single failure.
I really like this one a lot. The trigger pull is really good, better than the Ruger P345 I was also shooting.
I think of the 1911 as the 10/22 of the handgun world. So much aftermarket stuff to improve it.
I think the Ruger may be slightly more accurate but I havent had a chance to do any reloading yet and I only had 2 brands of ammo to experiment with. The RIA seems to be easier to point and come on target quicker but that may just be me.
I couldnt be happier with it!

Way ta go Snake. Glad you have a gun you like. We can have a head to head with my Norinco When I come back to AZ. We can shoot your .50 in betwen to let the 1911 barrels cool down. LOL.

Welcome to the world of 1911 style .45!

I really need to look into getting a Rock.

Jerry, I've shot with Snake and I think you two would make a good match-up. I wanna see Snake cry, he he he he.
