I carried the PP Manurhin for awhile...it used to bite my hand. Did not like the way it handled.
Got rid of it and carry a Bulgarian Mak now.
Walther has since extended the back strap on the new ones because of these problems.
So in a nutshell...new one maybe...old one no!
No. I'd go with the Bersa Thunder .380 - similar looks, doesn't bite the hand that feeds it! Accurate and reliable too. I've read of issues with the Walthers.
I've have a couple of PPKS in 7.65mm and 9x17mm. never had any problems other than the twenty pound trigger pull. 9x17mm with a hollow point does a fair job. 7.65 is a bit light.

The new ones from Smith seem to work pretty well with hollowpoints. I'd definitely test it thouroughly before carrying it though. good dun with a lot of history.
Generally speaking Yes, I'd carry one. As it is, I carry a KelTec .380. Small and light, but with a respectable bite. But I've also function tested it with almost 1000 rounds and I know its not prone to ejection failures as many of the early ones were. The point of this is that any firearm that I would carry would have to prove its reliability before it started to travel with me.

Absolutely. I already carry a PPK "knock off" and am happy with it.
In reading the topic more completely, I think my answer should be "NO", since the question is "would you BUY and carry a Walther PPK?" I would carry one, but most likely would not buy one unless I got one heck of a deal on it. Like Big Dog, I would buy (actually have bought) the Bersa, a PPK copy. So when it comes to buying one, I do believe I would rather buy an alternative first, but would feel comfortable carrying a PPK.
Eh, I wouldn't go beneath the PP for simple handling since I'm not particularly good with small grips. That, and I wouldn't go under 380/9x17mm. The Bersas seem to be a good minimum.

One of the original "Cop Guns" with a 100 year service record. Never going to win any major gunfights with it, but if your particular branch of service requires a .380 backup for a real service pistol, then its as well made and likely to function as anything else on the market. Not a good pick for the first gun, only as the resort choice when the .45 runs dry.
