The pilot landed as if he was landing on a soft field and kept the nose gear off the ground until the last second then set it down lightly after the plane slowed. Pilot reports that the front gear jammed and they went with thier best option. The front gear is only used to steer the plane and is not meant as a hard contact point so in training pilots are taught a soft field landing to prevent the nose gear from digging into grass or dirt fields.
I watched the entire landing on Fox News this afternoon. Not that I'm superticious or anything  I'll admit that my fingers were crossed as well as my legs, as I said a prayer for their safe landing. Thank God for the pilot's exceptional skill at landing a plane of that size apparently following to a "T" the textbook procedure for just such an incident.
Bet the 100+ passangers, three flight attendents, and two pilots will all have something to tell their grandkids about for the rest of their lives. :right:
