Seems to me the problem with welfare is the old cliche' hand out or a hand up . To me right now its seems to be a hand out. Unemployment benefits end after 6 months to at the most 1 year. Why cant the same be done with welfare? Our guvment is geared to help those who are lazy and punish those who work. Example: Students applying for federal Pell grants are awarded an x amount of money based on their past earnings. The less you made last year, the bigger the grant this year. My brother who worked at a good job got laid off and had almost 0 income He signs up for school and gets next to no Pell grant to help him better himself. Meanwhile, guys who have never had a job get grants in the order of $4000 a year. Iv'e seen it with my own two eyes.I am an instructor at a technical college and I once had a student who was a gun nut like me. He would buy a new gun every time I turned around. Come to find out he was a welfare recipient. No job in years. He and his wife going to school on the taxpayers dime. Guvment subsidised rent, and free food. I want kids to be taken care of just like everybody else but you cant legislate morals. A person who would let their kid do without so they can draw a check, isnt going to take care of their kid very well anyway. Some people should get help, like the elderly, disabled and so forth. Right now, I have to agree (yuck) with Abe Lincoln, "theres too many piglets for the tits". Thanx for letting me vent. Sorry yall!
