A nod to a couple of compatriots of our Aussie members. They're the ones who proved that most ulcers are caused by bacteria, not stress, and can be cured with a course of antibiotics. They just won a Nobel prize for their work, and there are still doctors who don't believe them.

Can we deduce that vegamite equals yeast?

Yeast can easily result in raised bactierial base counts.

Bacterial bases can equal ulcers and ulcers can be treated by antibiotics.

Therefore if the Aussies ate less Vegamite that would equal less ucler related diseases?

Just tugging at the legs of our Aussie friends here.

I hear this on the radio yesterday, apparently they did the experiments on themselves, eg;drinking bacteria and waiting to see what happens. That's what I like to see.

Has anyone seen the pics from a doctor who let a brown recluse spider bite him and he cataloged the whole ordeal. From the first bite to the point that they had to sew the skin to keep it from falling apart. He let the spider bite his thumb, and he about loses it in the end, not his end, but at the end, of the experiment, that is.

apparently the particular strain of bacteria had been documented in tissue samples from ulcers for umpteen years, and people dismissed it as coincidence, contamination, or whatever. They had a lot of trouble getting anyone to take them seriously when they suggested the bacteria might actually be a cause instead.

Does this mean the old saying that I dont get ulcers, I give em, is no longer good?

There is also thoughts that Alzheimers may be from exposure from bacteria and the leading suspect is cats! Mostly the litter boxes and cat crap. I knew they were good for nothing...at least thats what I think I was thinking.

And I'm sure beer will cure all.

Vegemite will fix mouth ulcers. Like them ones ya get on ya tongue from telling lie`s. ( my mum says thats what they from ) If you dab it on the ulcer it stings a tad, but will be gone next day.

Have you got stomach ulcers Johnny? I don't and I eat vegemite, if you don't then maybe you could be onto something, maybe the next nobel prize winner.

Mick, I dont drink, smoke, I exercise like an idiot, I consume a bout 20 grams of fat per day at most, dont take sugar or eat anything that is in the least bit fun at all. If I had an ulcer I`d fairly spit chips... Vegemite is the shizzle....
