Gyrene: I'll be sure to do that for you. Here's a link showing more about the Blarneystone and the Blarney Castle near Cork in southern Ireland . We'll be touring that area so probably will be there. http://www.blarneycastle.ie/ The flight time from Newerk to Shannon is approximately six hours. Wonder if that's longer than Shaun has flown his plane in one session? But...it's a whole lot less time than flying from L.A. to Australia like my last trip overseas which was nearly seventeen hours.

Overseas vacations, what next you going to buy a place in Florida so you can skip the Missouri winters? Have a good one, we expect a full report when you get back.

Ever wonder why a country that insists on useing the metric system has pubs where beer is served by the pint? I flew to Ireland once, from Gander Newfoundland in a modified Grumman Cheeta with a single 300 hp engine and an HF radio that wouldn't work, what fun. Hope you enjoy the trip. TEE HEE, I couldn't resist!!! http://www.airtechcanada.com/otter.html I didn't know this web site was being dropped, for the moment, SORRY! http://www.trade-wings.net/ http://www.ketchumair.com/aircraft-otter-dhc-3.html Last edited by Gyrene; 10-10-2005 at 11:21 AM. |

Gyrene the Otter is a good plane but it defenitely is a better plane with the 1840 P&W -- the Turbo Prop makes a classic look like junk Here is one still in service with the US Navy http://www.airliners.net/open.file/930300/L/

Shaun - I agree. I was only attempting some humor, and I think Otter would laugh (I hope so). DeHavilland has built some pretty rugged and long lived aircraft. Of course through the years they update them as new technology and its inherent high initial prices drop to make the update practical cost-wise. |
