Walmart Bites

I was out of LA for all the Katrina related nonesense. When I got back about 2 weeks ago, I needed a few things and went down to my friendly local Walmart. Amongst the things I needed was a couple boxes of 12ga slugs to replace some I had fired. That and I wanted to go shoot the CZ, so a box a 9mm was on my mind. I found out that since all the crap that happened in New Orleans after Katrina, Walmarts in South LA have indefinitely suspended ammunition and firearm sales. Talk about a PITA, because the local gun shop is not only expensive, but also located on the busiest street in town which has now been made worse by a couple hundred thousand evacuees.

That and an "evacuee" hit my car. She is claiming to be homeless, carless, and insuranceless. She hit me with a rental car rented to a relative, so I cannot make a claim against Hertz's insurance company and must jump through about 80 extra hoops to get the money straight from Hertz. I wish the cop had arrested her and towed the car on the spot. Thats the only way the idiots in LA will ever learn to not drive without insurance. Argh!

Welcome to the club, wal-mart here in Ca stopped selling firearms about two years ago. They still sell ammo, though.

Wal-Mart grates my Nerves, I just did a tour of family doody there earlier. They are still selling guns and ammo at the on in my town, but That really ticks me off that they would pull all ammo off the shelves in LA after all of the looting going on and such. I guess they figured that they could stop all the violence by disarming (in a sence) their consumers. I love carrying in Wal-Mart, there is no sticker on the door, and if anyone knew they would pull the fire alarm. But I am not the only one carrying, just one of the few who is licensed. I know I have seen it. Saw an El Salvadorian looking guy, he looked like a member of the (what do they call it) MS-13 gang, with "13" Tattooed on his arm, he was fanning his Jersey shirt and there was a HI-Point stuck in his pants (no holster). anyway, Sorry about the ammo shortage and the car situation

no problems in TN -- oh if they ever ask if the ammo is for a handgun tell them something off the wall -- I usually tell them all the 22 I buy is for a gatling gun or a machine gun -- they give me the strangest looks

I'm with Stopper...ain't none of their business what the ammo is for.

Period.

I've not been asked that question but if they did I'd stand there......"Get your store manager down here with the state or federal law that requires you know that. NOW!"

And...don't leave (unless asked to) ...make it an issue.

Let the whole place know how stupid the salesperson or the store policy is.

There are better and worse stores than Wal Mart. I try to shop accordingly.

If asked I will give them something like "no I like to use the lead from the bullets for fishing weights."

You guys know that question is because you have to be 18 to buy rifle ammo and 21 for handgun ammo right?

Years ago, I was trying to buy a .22 rifle in a Kmart in Oklahoma. The salesgal took it out of the case for me; I looked it over; and I asked to see the clip. She said, "I'm sorry. The clips are locked up in the manager's office, and we can't bring them down unless you buy the rifle."

I went round and round with her. I explained that the clip was part of the gun, and I wasn't buying anything sight unseen, particularly since she didn't even know how many rounds it held, whether it was plastic or metal, etc. I even suggested lock the gun back up, then bring down the clip, even though that wouldn't have told me how smoothly it inserted and came out. No good.

Eventually I talked to the fat store manager, and he started some pompous, long-winded speech about preserving public safety. I told him; "no wonder your sales clerk is a (bleep)ing idiot; she has one for a boss." I turned my back on him and walked out while he was sputtering something, then drove to the next town over, where I paid $20.00 more for the same rifle at a gun shop.

Im not particularly a fan of walmart either.. i just got back home from trying to buy a AGC 7 1/2 fuse for a bingo pinball machine.. first off, they dont have that.. they have AGC 10's... so i settle for that... they have ONE checkout lane open for the whole store. problem with that? they turned off the self checkout and even closed the door we came through -- had to walk halfway across the store and back just to get to our car (its the "super" walmart) which leads to having 5 people in line in front of us. waited about 10 minutes for $1 worth of fuses.. and gave up. they were looking for change and even when we left, had not checked any of the people out. Tomorrow im going to Runnings farm and fleet... who just bought the old walmart store building >: ) take THAT! (btw.. did you know bingo pinball machine coils smoke when something is wrong? )

I told the wally world clerck that the 30.06 ammo was for a pistol. "They go in a little tight, and you have to force the slide closed, but they make a !!!! of a bang in my 1911!"

Shoulda seen his face!!!! But he sold me the shells just the same!!!
