I was wondering if remmy JHP are comparable to other brands of self defense rounds? (will have to check the gr) I've used cor-bon in the past but recently picked up a Taurus 24/7 and noticed remington JHP were only $17.99 for a box of 100! I paid almost that much for 20 cor bon ... typically you get what you pay for ... but my gun fired all 100 flawlessly and they are cheap enough to shoot many rounds through the gun to ensure it likes the ammo ... I can shoot and be 5 times more comfortable with the remmy because they are 1/5th the cost.
Remington has been making ammo for 150 years. They haven't stayed in business that long by making a second-class product. If you like the round and your gun likes the round, buy it. Shoot it by the caseload. The price you mentioned is quite reasonable for green-boxed Remingtons.
When the smoke clears, the goblin neither knows nor cares that he's been blown out of his felony-shoes by a Remington, a Winchester or a Federal. All will put him in a long dirt nap.
I only worry about different bullets if I'm going for optimum accuracy in target shooting.
All the JHP bullets do the job. Find out which one your gun prefers.
The most reliable JHP's are the Speer Golddot's and the Rem Golden Sabre, the Fed Hydra-Shock is a distant 3rd. After these three you can lump all the other JHP's into a common group. There isn't much difference between them. So reliaiblity. accuracy, and price, in that order, should be your deciding factors.
