969 Miles

we're on our way to Oregon, actually we're in Oregon, yesterday I did 969 miles, from Gretna Ne. to Snowville, Ut. Not a bad day on the road. Sunday I ran out of hours so I took Monday off in Gretna and Tuesday drove straight through to Snowville, could have done 1000 miles if I wanted but I wanted to have a WiFi hot spot and watch Commander In Chief at 21:00 edt. so I stopped at Snowville and pulled the yellow button for the night. Nice trip so far, passed a place in Idaho with a bunch of military hardware in the yard next to the interstate, the OH58 brought back memories.
Got Kitty with me, when the boss asked if I wanted to go to Oregon I went home to get the cat, asked him if he wanted to go to Oregon and he jumped into my arms. I don't think he cares where we go as long as he comes with me. Been a great trip and I enjoy being able to check in here with my friends at Gun&Game. Thanks.

Yee haw! 10-4 big buddy, let them truckers roll!

Actually you might know this song it's been bugging me, the only line I know is, 'So I hit the gate at 98, I aint gonna pay no toll'

I don't know who sings it but I think it may be Johnny Cash.

C.W. McCall sings it, "Convoy" Hillsboro, just west of Portland, we're in Troutdale now, Just east of Portland. Going to Intell in Hillsboro for Thursday Morning.

Otter, Keep the greasy side down. Love those trucker songs from the likes of C.W. McCall, Red Sovine, Minnie Pearl. Here is one for you, Giddyup go daddy. Do you listen to Gene Tracy as well?

No, I don't listen to any of it, I like soft rock, when I listen to broadcast. Mostly I have 11 meters on one radio, scanner in the headset and 20 meters on the HF radio.

What difference does it make if you run out of hours running two log books? You can't legally log 969 miles in 11 hours.

I ran out of hours Sunday, I took Monday off to get 34 hours off to restart the seventy available. I drove from Gretna to Snowville but my log shows stopping in Rock Springs WY. for the night, it was still daylight and I kept going. I only use one book, my fuel and tolls have to match my logbook so I can't cheat much. It's better to continue driving after I run out of hours than to get up at 1 or 2 in the morning to start my day. I'm in Troutdale Or. now but my log is in La Grand, I'll show driving 5 hours to get to Hillsboro tomorrow morning when I'll sleep in and start at 08:00 instead of starting at 03:00. I don't cheat much, just shift the hours to look right.

Long as you don't get checked before you catch up.

I loaded out of Vancouver Wa. going to New Britian, Ct. The broker asked if I was going to deliver Monday, I said, "Not a chance," she says, "Tuesday?" I replied, "Try Thursday."
"Thursday?" she asked, "Why Thursday?"
I told her, "I've got 50 hours available, I've already used 6 today and it's 49 hours to New Britain, so I'll have to take a day off somewhere before I get there."
Her: "Call me Monday morning, I'll see where you are and re-schedule the apointment."
Me: "I'll call you Monday morning from LaMar Pennsylvania. Have a good weekend."
