I have a bulgarian Ak and was thinking of putting one of those Ar-15,telescope
stock on my AK... Has anyone bought one and added it to their AK and does
it work out as a good stock or not.... Most romanian and some Mak 90's
are too short for me to hold.It jamms me up. So my question does the AR
style stock work good for the ak frame....

Here's what I think. If it works, the he!! with 'em. I know I wanted to put an AR style stock on my G3, the first guy to respond to me talked down to me for wanting to do it. Notice how I hang around this site alot more now.
If you want it, cool. My thoughts are though that the reason for using one is to have multiple positions. An AR cannot by design take a full folding stock because its recoil assembly is in the buttstock. An AK can, and I think it's best served with a true folder. But that's just my opinion. Your rifle, do what ya like.

I got one for my SAR-1 for two reasons: First, I wanted a short rifle to use in the van and I don't like folding stocks. They just seem flimsy to me. Two, my wife is only 4'10" so most long guns are to long for her to handle comfortably, the AR stock seemed the best of both worlds. The only drawback to this stock is that it fits just a little more loose that the original wood stock and since the screws to hold it are both on the top, the stock has a very small gap between the bottom of the stock and the bottom of the receiver. On the whole I'm very pleased with this stock. I'm considering getting one for my Mossberg 500! -UR

If you get one for your 500, get the Knoxx Spec Ops stock. Its the highest quality telescoping stock for shotguns, and it reduces recoil by quite a bit. Any one who owns one, inluding myself, loves them.
UR, I've done tons of AK stock work and it sounds like a simple shim on the bottom would make a difference. Another thing, which might sound wierd, would be to cover the bottom with a thin layer of gorilla glue, then sand it down to the desired level after it foams and dries. I've made many a loose part fit more snug with that method.

I had thought about a shim but didn't think I could get one thin enough. Using gorilla glue sounds like the ticket. Thanks for the suggestion.

Hmm, might even gorilla glue a sheet of wax paper or foil to the bottom and then insert it? Using only a sparing amount so that it does not ooze out at the edges.

Used the gorilla glue on my stock and boy was it tight. I had to use a rubber mallet to do some "convincing". I certainly don't have to worry about it working loose. Great advice BRG3. Thanks.
