I don't think there are enough talented drivers in the fleet to to make for a full field with the restrictor plates off. Not without some major wrecks. Hmm, I might have to start watching it again if they removed the plates.

OH YEAH, that Melling T bird mentioned earlier in the thread that AwsomeBill ran 213 with at Talladega - just for trivia's sake - that engine is now resting between the front wheels of a Unique Motorcars Cobra roadster in Gadsden Alabama. If you think that a 3700lb Tbird was a beast with that kind of engine, you oughta catch a ride in a 1975lb Cobra with that power plant! I've told my life long friends, the Weavers (owners and operators of Unique Motorcars) that Cobras are simply outlaw sprint cars with a fiberglass body and no wing on top! By the way, the restrictor plate HAS BEEN REMOVED from the engine in the Cobra!

i like going to my local dragstrip. just a bunch of poor folks who have the "run what ya brung" mentality. that kind of drag strip or even local car shows that are mainly cars or trucks that guys have built themselves get my appreciation. i lose appreciation for the vehicles that have a sponsor with a bottomless pit of money. of course all of what i say could only be because i am poor too. |
