Info on Army???

OK, so now I'm confused. If your own father is in Army JAG, what in !!!! are you doing asking a bunch of strangers for advice about military service choices?
Ever occur to you that a Career Army guy might just have a pretty good idea how the whole deal works, and as your DAD, might actually be concerned you get the CORRECT INFO?
My Dad was a WWII vet, Granddad fought in France in WWI, and oddly enough I ASKED THEM what to do about military service when my number came up. Main useful advice I got was to sign on for as short a tour as possible, and during basic make sure you always got minimum scores on all weapons systems and maximum on any other skills tests, so you reduce the chance of getting to be point man in an infantry platoon. (GREAT ADVICE!!!)

I passed the same thought on to the nextgen when they asked me, since I came through the SE Asia War games in one piece, and got to be advisor to the next litter of Army puppies in the family based on that.

Just can't figure you asking anybody here what you should do, with an EXPERT sitting across the dinner table from you every day.
Or are you just TROLLING for contrary opinions, and not really serious....just wasting your time (and ours) on the old PC?

Apologies to Shaun and others on the boards for my one expletive-deleted figure of speech. No offense intended. As to GIO, well, with that temperament, I'd politely suggest the need for a lot more maturing on the vine outside the military, before taking on a career path with life and death consequences to your actions.

Just a suggestion, of course. No offense, of course, and as to your virtual shotgun and the rest of the string of abuse handed to me, well, thanks for proving my point for me, Mr. Troll.

If a little "fatherly" advice like mine can set you off that much, do us all a favor and stay in school as long as you can, then get a career well away from any weapons, or sharp implements, etc.

Again, just a thought, no offense of course, nothing but love and kisses, etc. etc. HAVE A REALLY NICE DAY, and consider increasing the meds.

No offense?

Are you one of those people who like to pick fights online? If I am not mistaken you took an un-called for hit on me. And I am not mistaken. That really shows what kind of person you are when you critisize some one YOU DONT KNOW. Especially when you had NO reason to. Because I posted that my father was a jag officer after I asked for some information on High School to Flight School you automatically thought that I was TOO STUPID to ask my father for advice. I even stated advice I got from him. I get yelled at by someone I dont know just becasue I want to exhaust all my resources before starting my life. If I was wasting your time why did you read, or even post? Infact, dont answer that question. I wasnt wasting your time. You were glad to try to tear me to peices in my thread. That is the kind of person you are.

Here is a little advice. DONT JUMP TO CONCLUSIONS.

Ok, I'm done with this.

Posted what I thought was helpful advice to a newbie, based on family service in the military going back about 100 years or so.

Then I get notice his dad is career Army, and wondered why ask us with an authority on the subject on hand.

Didn't figure on pulling the pin on a grenade here.

Didn't expect anything like what came back in response to my questioning the point of the original query.

Obviously the initial post giving honest advice was not helpful, and I suppose the rest was inevitable.

Here on out, no advice coming from here, seeing the results.

Apologies all around to everyone in sight. :cheer:
