Canadians going after gun industry with lawsuits

I am guessing the canadians haven't figured out that the gun does not make crime happen

Northern Litigation

The Toronoto Star reports that the Canadian government is proposing a solution to the country's rising violent crime rate: sue U.S. gunmakers. Prime Minister Paul Martin (search) argues that half of all gun crimes in Canada are committed with weapons obtained illegally from the U.S. and the government is looking to punish manufacturers who produce the guns used in homicides across the border.

But the U.S. ambassador to Canada argues that cracking down on border security would have more impact since most of the weapons coming into Canada are purchased illegally by Canadian citizens and smuggled across the border.

Yeah, sue the gun manufacturers, that'll work!! Then sue the alcohol companies for causing drunk drivers, the knife makers for all the stabbings, everybody wins!! If by everybody you mean the trial attorneys!

what a bunch of crap, it is this kind of behavior that gives the good people of canada a bad name. "proposed a soulution", that is laughable. paul martin is an airhead. "half of all crimes are committed with guns from the US", and what of the other half? i own guns, if someone steals them and commits a crime am i gonna wind up in court losing my home cause of some lawsuit? a lot of rants go on in this forum about stupid canadians, and i honestly cant fault the people who go on the rants when this is the kind of crap making it into the news. i am embarrassed and angry.

Well, certain stupid Americans have been doing this for a while. I guess there is that bill that prevents it here.

We cannot continue to let other countries impact our 2nd amend. rights. And that is exactly what this is.

Angry

Anybody else see the fine hand of that female drip-snit Antigun activist from Australia in all this? I can believe her organization probably got the ear of certain Canadian Government Idiots.
Canada is like California - lots of decent people over-burdened by a few big-city Liberals.

Ahem ... I think you mean the center (i.e. Ottawa). Don't lump Eastern Canada in with that "crowd", please.

Understood, Andrew. We know who you're talking about, or else we wouldn't be here on a forum like this. There's no shortage of idiots in the world, and they come in all shapes, sizes, colors, creeds, religions, and nationalities.

Even if we make gun laws to stop selling to canadians or sue the manufacturers there will still be gun crimes. Criminals obtain guns illegally. Why?
BECAUSE THEY ARE CRIMINALS!! Laws do not affect them.
