They were taking up too much bandwidth, as I recall. Think about how long folks posts are and how long each signature is on average. It would probably more than double the amount of data sent.

Ha, and I just proved my own point.

All part of the cost of doing business I reckon. It is free afterall, for us.

Heres what we still have: Avatars. Those went bye bye once, but we have 'em now.

A pic gallery. Never had before.http://www.gunandgame.com/gallery/index.php

On most, we can still link up an image.

We can also get a pic to link up from another site such as Gunrunners.

http://groups.msn.com/NorthAmericanG...o&PhotoID=1105

We Have a chat room. Hey, some folks dig it.

All kinds of smileys

An arcade for crying out loud! http://www.gunandgame.com/forums/arcade.php

Moderators have sigs. Good for them. I did the job, was glad for the opportunity. But I'll tell ya. It's one of those thankless jobs. Let 'em have thier signatures.

Some stuff will change, some will come and go. Iv'e said it before. People make it work, not toys. Get all mad at me I don't care, not very PC any ways.

Yeah, G&G really is an awesome place, even if you're unlucky enough to be a mod :drink: . A number of other forums I stop by have had some belt tightenings lately and some cracking down on use by noncontributors. At this point G&G won't take donations (that may change when certain stuff gets worked out by the admin) so it really is free for everyone. If you want to support the site, click on any banner ads that you may have some interest in (some are quite bad and worth ignoring), and help make it a good place to be. Share your knowledge, ask questions that bring out the best in folks, and enjoy!

Bandwidth? Gimme a break.

Before you know it we non-mods will have our posts limited to 25 words or less.

Plus, I don't see how a chat room that you are re-directed to has anything to do with functionality of the forum.

I click on at least one banner every time, even if I don't read anything from the other websight. A small price for me to pay to not have to pay anything for the privilage to be here.

quote by Ox: "Either pay up or shut up."

I've seen some rude comments lately but that one takes it.

Ox, in case you haven't guessed it I'm miffed that you moderators (that are selected by the administration) get what y'all want but us supporters get it in the end, LOL.

Actually it's little skin off my neck but it does irk me that a long time member of this forum has restrictions when it would make sense that if bandwidth HAS to be clear up the clear the site of all the superfilous stuff and leave the little things alone.

And, once again, as is generally the case, let certain moderators complain about something and the rest of the moderators pat 'im on the back and say, "It'll be OK...hang in there."

But let a member in good standing complain about something....just once....and a moderator tells him to shut up???????

D A M N ! ! ! ! !

Dale...My apologies to you. Your point is well taken. I should not have made that statement.

What was meant by what I wrote was that the owner of a forum has full rights to establish rules for what he's paying for.

In further review of this thread I've been looking at the picture of Jerry smiling mischieviously as he's sitting down in a cornfield. Wonder what he's up to?
