A woman who apparently committed suicide by hanging herself in a tree remained there for hours after her death because passersby assumed it was a macabre Halloween decoration.
The Associated Press reports that late on Tuesday night or early Wednesday morning, the unnamed 42-year-old woman used a rope to hang herself in the tree that was located across the street from homes in Frederica, Del. Her body was suspended 15 feet above the ground and could easily be seen from the moderately busy street below. People did notice it on Wednesday morning, but no one thought it was real body with Halloween just days away.
It wasn't until mid-day that authorities were called to the scene. "They thought it was a Halloween decoration," Fay Glanden, wife of Mayor William Glanden, told The Wilmington News Journal. "It looked like something somebody would have rigged up," she said. :jaw:
