Exclamation Today and tonight I saw on cable news...

that the president of Iraq is complaining about how we are not keeping our promises, the main one mentioned was how we are not letting their troops have more responsibility over keeping their country free of the insergents.
At the same time, however he stated that we would have to keep a military presence in his country permanently or at least for a long period of time to protect Iraq from her neighbors.
Damed if you do and damed if you don't.
Beginning to sound a bit like Korea.
At least after we pulled out of Viet Nam things settled back down and now you don't hear anything out of them except for trade and immigrents.
It seems that trade with them is very lively,I see a lot of cartons from them,of course not as many as from China, but what do you expect,China is a trade giant now.

Then we could put Ray Nagin and his elite 'Boys in Blue' in charge . . .

I'm a believer that we need to back off and let the Iraqis deal with their mess.

I imagine one of the reasons the U. S. hasn't thus far is because if we did pull out the Iraqis would likely not assist us in locating insurgents and terrorists.

I don't know, but it seems that if we did pull out we wouldn't be searching for insergents nor terrorists,we might even be able to take care of our own problems.imo

sadly, and on the serious side, i think we are commited now. We can't just pull out. But, neither do i want America to be there forever as the lead post, of this thread implies might be needed!
