I'm done with dealing with Sportsmansguide.com

Today I was going to purchase several gift and personal items for the up coming winter season. I tallied up several hundred dollars of items and was at the online checkout and a few items came up that they cannot ship to my zip in CT!!! The items were two pocket knives, and an air rifle as well, all the other items were winter gear and boots as well as many gift items. As an aside I have ordered boot in the past as well as many surplus items as well as gun magazines and ammunition! Now when I placed the order I get denied because of two pocket knives and an air rifle!!! I called and asked if I could place an order, I gave them the items and I was denied again, I asked to speak with a supervisor and again was told that they do not ship air arms or knives to CT.....well needless to say I called customer service and asked to be removed from thie mailing list as well as their email listings. I find it hard to understand why they will send me 10 AK magazines and ammuinition as needed but not pocket knives or an air arm? All have negative potentials but so does water and several foods! I'm through with these merchants there are no state law or local ordinances that prohibit in my zip--forget sportsmanguide.com ....

K75RT Thats the trouble I have with Maryland, I can get some items like ammo, but no hi cap mags. Other than that, I have had a very happy relationship with sportsmansguide.

It's not CT

The problem is not Connecticut it is Sportsmanguide, when I called Customer service they told me that they choose not to sell air arms and knives to CT. It is their choice and no one elses. What kind of people sell ammunition to a person but not a knive? I can buty hi cap mags but no knives or air arms. Connecticut has nothing to do with it. There are too many other outlet to deal with screw sportsmanguide.com....again, there are no laws in Connecticut that say I can not buy a knife or air arm. Infact if you look at sportmanguides catalog they wil lsell me a 1893 mauser in 8mm that is considered and antique but not a knife and air arm, screw sportsmanguide.

It's CT.
Texas, for God's sake, they can't ship long kives to us. Found this out when placing an order after the OJ Simpon/Mark Furman trial. Asked SG customer service if there was an OJ rule? They couldn't give me an legitimate answer ether.
I used to be their mostbettest customer. Gotta love the Guide. Love my Mora knife. It's not for morons!
Since my two sons are out of scouting now, I don't purchase much anymore.
He'll of a capitalist venture?

That don't make any sense? "(George W. Bush)"
By the way, Nicole Brown Simpson was the murder victim in the Mark Furman trial.

I have been a long time buyer from the SportsmansGuide. Never once have I had a problem-EVER. Last time I placed an order from them, I screwed up adding more ammo than I wanted. I called and they put me on the line with CS and changed everything I wanted them too. These guys have the best CS I have encountered. Not once have I encountered a rude operator.
If they choose not to sell a knife or Pellet gun in CT, or it's actually a CT thing, then I say buy those else where.
You can find knives at cheap prices everywhere, as you can Pellet Guns/Air Rifles. But I wouldn't let such a small thing like that stop me from being a repeat customer. Good prices and excellent Customer Service.

I can't see a company cutting it's own commercial throat by electively not selling a knife or air gun.

It still sounds to me that Connecticut has some sort of commerce rule that disallows mailing shipments of certain items whereas the same items can be shipped into the state by other means.

This is not uncommon and many states actually have such/similar laws.

It's all about taxes and money that the state won't get through mail order but where they do if they have commerce taxes for truckers, etc.

Prices leave much to be desired? You want to pay more for the same products?

Sometimes it's not completely illegal to ship to a certain state, but there are hassles that the company decides not to get into.

My nephew was venting a while back. He had tried to buy a long knife from Cabela's (I think) catalogue, and they refused to ship it to California. So he went downtown to our local sporting goods store and bought the same one, for more money.

Apparently the rules on what can be shipped to dealers, vs what can be shipped to retail customers, come into play in irrational ways in a lot of places.

Thats bad when your state government can't even afford laws 7mmag6. Maybe if they start taxing you, they can get some laws on the books.
