Because they're wheel guns and the money for manufacturers is in semi's these days.

Ruger continues to make the GP-101 in 357. I would assume they figured they could save money by sticking to that product line. In fact they may have replaced the 357 Redhawk and Security Six with the GP-101 to consolidate.

Colt is pretty much thumbing its nose at the civilian population, going for military contracts on the M16 and LMGs. They had a few anti-RKBA policies even before the old ban.

I just went and reassured my Security Six and Speed Six that they were in the cabinet to stay. Is it normal to talk to revolvers?

Disclaimer: I don't really talk to my firearms, or pet them, or think they are calling me from the cabinet. Really.

Outriderdark...I've done the same to my Ruger Security Six, too. But...it'll get a little action this coming weekend as I put it in my carry-in bag when I'm deer hunting. If need be, it'll be used to convince the deer to stay down.

Colt made non-standard AR-15s for civis just so we couldn't customize them (and back in the day, add registered full auto sears). Different sized receiver pins and such. They also made neutered ARs before the ban. Now that the ban is gone, they've been approached about making non-ban ARs, and they've pretty much said "no way."

And of course the discontinuing of civilian model guns such as the Python and Anaconda in favor of ones also used largely by LE and military.

Outriderdark - I've never had a gun speak to me from my cabinet, but too many have called to me from the dealer's display case. Too, too many. And it's a sweet, sweet song, boys.....

LOL....I'm with ya, bookman.
First ya see something you really want at an unbelieveble price...then you realize ya either don't have the money or you do but the ol' lady's gonna crown ya if you spend it again.
Then you start thinking about what you have that you can sell. It's never a matter of what you don't like but what you like the least and are willing to sacrifice.
Then you finally get what you wanted (if someone doesn't come along and buy it first - which makes ya wanna punch someone - didn't they know I was gettin that!) and three months later you kick yourself for selling what you sold to get what you wanted cause they suddenly don't make them anymore or someone discovered that it was the greatest firearm ever invented.

within the past year I found what I was searching for Here and Yon, I was walking out of the gunshow and on the table was a used Redhawk. I was about to pass it by thinking it was not what I was interested in, but ended up turning it over and it said...... .357 Magnum OHHHH.... I regathered my brain and senses and haggled the price for the "old used Redhawk" and left with it after tax for about 390.00
I did the snoopy dance.
it is all stainless has a 7.5" Barrel and is all mine. I thank God for blessing me that fine day. Raccoon, I am not trying to rub this in your face or anything, I am just happy about having it. I hope you find what you are looking for.
