News Poll "Tazers for officers at school?" (activated Nov/08/05 @9:30 est)

Yes or no, Tazers at school to be used on unrully kids.

I hope this link works. This News team is obviously biased. I gather that by reading the paragraph or 2 they inserted right before you vote. But really,
Without setting up a Poll in this forum what do you all think? I don't want to get too confusing with a post link up top and a poll running so just speak your mind.

After expressing the fact that the guns aren't evil and do evil works without a Person's Evil entintions or distorted reality, I told them that yes, I believe an officer has a duty to protect himself, the kid flipping out, and fellow schoolmates, by responding in line with escalation of force. The link posted in this reply is what I gave them as a reason why at least "Tazers" if not "Less than Leathal" rounds should be used, (in accordance to escalation of force)

I'm not saying I grew up in a different time, but law enforcement folks weren't even allowed on campus in my town's schools without special permission.

We didn't have fences around the schools either, except for a couple of elementary schools near traffic. And they weren't patrolled at night; I remember wandering the High School campus in the wee hours of the night a few times with young ladies, and the bathrooms weren't even locked.

Of course, it was also a time and place when we didn't normally take the keys out of our cars, unless we were out of town. They were a symbol of ownership, not a security device.

one time when my parents were leaving for the summer, we couldn't find a key for the front door of our house. We'd lived there for years, and no one could remember whether there had ever been one. After a debate with my mother about whether it was necessary, my Dad finally changed the lock. And we gave keys to probably half the people in the valley, and told the other half where one was hidden, "just in case someone needs in."

I see where you're comming from stopper, its almost morbidly funny how people will support the legalazation of torture without realizing its just a matter of time before its used on U.S. citizens.

Anyways topicly enough a kid got tazered yesterday at my school for being in a fight. There were two fights that day so they locked down the whole school when a few months before there were 13 fights in one day and nothing was done.

Yep, start 'em young so they don't question the system when they're older. Turn them into "citizens" now and the won't act like Americans when the feds lock everything down.

Jack booted thugs DO NOT belong in schools! If teachers cannot control kids without threating them with weopons maybe they should look for another line of work! Yes you're gonna have the occasional brat/wannabe thug who causes trouble, just backhand the little !!!!!!!. Treat them with RESPECT when they are young and you should have very little problems when they become teens. Yes kids need to learn how to listen, sit still, and behave, but keeping them under nazi-style rule is only gonna teach them fear. I gurantee most will become sheeple, afraid of the "man", is that how you really want you kids to be?, to always ask what the law is so they can avoid breaking it instead of questioning IT'S legality?

I'm sorry, but when was the last time you were in school? At my school so far this year there have been a max of 13 fights in one day, a stabbing after school, and two kids found carring guns. Not too mention five pounds of weed (for those of you who have never experemented five pounds is a good bit) and a few crack rocks that have been found. Remember school only started in september.

The cops are going to be there, and are put there for a reason. My point is that if they are there, what can they do if they need to do something? I think tazers are not a bad option. of course using one on a 6 year old is out of line, but that was posted by a "biased" news crew. I have been in a crowd where cops used Pepper Spray to detain a guy, and it affected a lot more than just him, including me, I wasn't out of line at all, just a bystander. I would have much rather them had single him out with a tazer (or the old lead "Sap").
