I am with the Shotgun crowd here. Like Ash says the shotgun is the most versatile.

But with a fifty you can go from gophers to elephants. I dont think hunting an elephant with a shotgun is a good idea. And the gopher only needs a near miss. You aint after the meat. I hope! And surprisingly, a 50 with lighter bullets doesnt blow things up......ok, a little but dead is dead, right? A shotgun liquifies critters but same thing. Dead. When a shot presents itself at one mile, I sure aint gonna grab the scattergun |

I think I'd get a pistol, for personal protection with a .22 rifle as a second choice.

Rifle for sure. Which one first is the question. I believe that every good American should own around 100 firearms, with a ratio of rifle/handgun/shotgun as 7:2:1. That means a minumum of 70 rifles, 20 handguns, and 10 shotguns. My next great idea is for the Gvt. to sponsor "good American-ship" by either donating weapons or subsidising their purchase heavily from the punitive taxes levied on the bad-Americans who believe in gun-control

If you were familiar with firearms my 1st would be a 357 revolver. If you were hard core into hunting then maybe a good pump 12 gauge.

Shotgun, hands down. Anyone ever go to that website, I can't remember the address, but it was 'The Box Of Truth'? Buckshot for home defense and a slug to punch through 'bullet proof' glass. Wow, now that's impressive. But second would be a Marlin lever action. 444!

M1911A1 first. Then a surplus rifle in the .30 cal range: inexpensive, sturdy, reliable, cheap ammo, reasonably accurate. Boys and girls, can we say 'Mosin-Nagant 91/30'? Although I was looking at an immaculate, sparkling, BRNO Persian Mauser today for $500.00, and I think I'm in love. What can I say? I'm a sucker for long legs and long barrels... |
