Now you all can sit down and stop saluting.
What was your most favorite, only one, John Wayne movie, and why was it your favorite?

Shebear's favorite was The Quiet man, because of the storyline. My Daughter likes McClintock, just because of the main character, and I liked The Green Berets for the action. Puff was awesome.

Fighting Seabees 1944

It was an awful propaganda film, but I sure liked it as a kid.

I can not decide on one I liked them all. McClintock is greatly funny after a sixpack.

The Shootist, The Alamo, Green Berets True Grit AND Rooster Cogburne.
There are so many, What was so appealing was that Wayne was allways the same guy everytime. the same charcter, the same personality,
That is because that WAS the REAL man that shined through in his pictures.
he played himself with defference to the charcter.
So, The reality was he was a good man that was an actor.
not mant like that now days.
Senator Fred Thompson comes to mind......
lets hope The honorable Mr Thompson get to run for president.
John, and Ronnie, would be proud.

Thumbs up

He made too many good ones to choose from. "They Were Expendable" was excellent - I love those PT Boats!

"Hatari" was also very good - an interesting diversion from the Duke's usual type of movie.

The Shootist, a close second is "The Man That Shot Liberty Valance" along with "The Cowboys". Bruce Dern and his daughter owe their careers that movie.

Yeah, I ve heard that the police and firefighters that responded to the WTC Attack on 9/11 brought back the manly hero type to the american culture and did away with the wimpy, sensitive, crying at a chick flick type. If that statement about the wimpy type offended any one,I'M GLAD! They brought back the John Wayne/Ronald Regan type of hero that america needs at this time!
I think my favorite was...is...I dont think I can pick 'one'...Green Barets really comes in high. He did so many films and so many you felt that this is the way John Wayne believes and lived the part.....God Bless John Wayne!

I just convinced my roomate to watch The Duke's movies... apparently there are about 5 of them on this month. Im proud to report that my state's attorney general's office has a bust of him on the break room fridge. Its the first thing you see when you enter the room, the only thing on top too -- place of honor

*edit* just finished watching war wagon. its one of the few ive had a chance to see. i find the ending rather fitting about paying with the gold
