border crossing

Hey all,
Ive been looking for a source of very cheap .223 ammo, Im in southern ontario and the best I can find is about $6 for 20 rounds but its junk. Was looking into buying some bulk from somewhere like gander mountain or cabella's. Is there any restrictions for border crossing? Is it illegal to even do this? I can understand bringing guns is illegal if just brought in the truck accross the bridge but what about ammo? Any insight would be awesome! Or if anyone knows where to get some decent cheap ammo in ontario!!

Cool

I understand that Canadian Law Enforcement Officials freak when arms or ammunition are declared and Canadian SWAT teams conduct body cavity searches :jaw: for Bren guns, grenades and suchlike

I found 2000 rounds of Lake City for $399.00 at Cabela's. Fine out if it's legal to bring in and I can pick it up, I go by Cabela's alot. I live in Vermont 25 miles south of the border near St. Albans.

I know!! I searched around on the net for a little while and can't find anything about bringing ammo. just guns. Something about if an American comes up hunting they can bring up to 200 rounds without paying a fee or something but im not sure if you go "shopping" and pick up a few t-shirts and a box of ammo. Its probably illegal and I'll have to find a source in ontario, or keep bending over for it.

Do you come down here? I can split a bulk pack for you, The 2000 round box from Cabela's has two 1000 round boxes in it and I recently picked up 2000 rounds. It's Lake City M855 ball 62 grain green tip. I'd have to pull the receipt from my files to know exactly what my cost was with the sales tax. It was $399.00 plus tax for 2000. It's not worth driving to Vermont just to get it, but if you were down here for a reason it would be worth it. There's also a Cabela's in Michigan north of Toledo. Let us know where you are.
