Actually it's 1 for 13 and the one isn't doing so well. Can't believe the Governor repeated a rumor without first having it verified.

and he supposedly waited 2.5 hours before filling the families in??? Is this true???

Gotta do damage control before you notify the families of thier kin.

From what I've read "someone" (Dick Durbin by any chance?) tapped into a wireless call that came from the mineshaft to the command center. "They" claim that the initial report was that 12 were found alive; rescue workers say that the initial report to the command center was 12 INDIVIDUALS were found. The mining company's rescue team kept a tight lip until they removed all the bodies and knew exactly what they were dealing with. The dark mineshaft and safety equipment hampered their ability to make positive identification and determine who was "officially" dead. Brain dead Governor showed up at the command center ready to scoop up some glory in the triumphant rescue of the 12, only to arrive just in time to witness the removal of the bodies.

No, this is no fault to any media stations. There was just word passed, and what i personally think is that a conversation was overheard, and one person heard...ALIVE!!!THEY"RE ALL ALIVE!!!! and that is how everything passed. That is personally what i believe

No, I get you, but I don't think they should have beamed it around the world without confirmation given that it was an overheard conversation.
But they do that all the time.
It was sad cause every newspaper at the local WaWa this afternoon had the false story on the front page.

Yes, everyone just wanted to bad to believe this was true, and with all the euphoria, it must have been very difficult to break the real news

From what I understand they struggled with how and when to do it. Glad it wasn't my job.

There should not have been a when. I understand it is hard, of course it is, but that news needs to be shared before the euphoric feelings of the families kicked in. It should have been notified right when it was known that 1/13 was alive

I think we can give the media a little credit for running with the false story. I saw on the front page of the USA "12 survived"
