I just purchased a Glock pistol. I am very pleased with it so far.
I was wanting to get a quality gun belt, but there are so many i was wondering if anyone had any suggestions. Also right now i have 2 magazines for shooting. One i keep filled with Personal Defense and the other i use for practice. Since i don't shoot the one filled with Personal defense how long can i leave it filled? and will it hurt the magazine to stay filled like i am doing? thanks for your help

Good questions--for carry I think Fobus has a great Glock system in Kydex--although as you noted there are may makers to choose from. If possible try and find a holster firsthand to see how it works for you before buying. Galco is excellent if you like it in leather--a thumbreak can be a good thing.

It might be worth the time to cycle the mags (unload the PD rounds and reload them into the other mag and vice versa just so the spring gets some "exercise") though in general mags are best kept "unsprung" a way of splitting the difference might be to load one or two less PD rounds for long term storage--but switching loads between mags would ensure you have two working mags for sure.

I agree with BB. You should use both magazines. But I would not worry about a loaded magazine taking a "set". That doesn't happen with quality magazines. Your Glock factory magazines won't even notice.

I had a trigger mod done to my Glock Model 30 .45 and it has a 2.5 lb pull if you don't release the trigger all the way between shots. Just let the trigger back until it clicks and squeeze again. I've seen 1911 mags loaded since WW2 preform flawlessly after forty years in storage. No worries, Mate.

I have never had a problem with any of my loaded mags -- just learn the trigger reset and you can get very good with double Taps.

I carry a Glock 17 for work and we qualify every 90 days, so our mags are loaded with 17 rounds the entire 90 days (hopefully) and we never have feeding problems with them. For more mags check Lone Wolf Dist, they are a Glock site that has alot of stuff.

You didn't mention if you needed a belt for competition or street use. But, Safariland has very sturdy belts for both uses. As for holsters, I use a AKER pancake holster for off duty and a Uncle Mike's Kydex for Production class in USPSA.

How do you like the model 17? I have been eyeballing a 17 long slide and a model 34. I believe that I have narrowed my Glock selection to one of the two.

I have a 19, the 17 and a 34. The 17 has the 8 lb duty trigger and night sights and shoots to duty standards. The 19 is alittle more compact and has the 5 lb trigger which really helps the shorter sight radius, so accuracy is about the same as the 17. BUT, the 34 has the 3.5 lb trigger, adjustable sights, ext mag release and I installed a fiber optic front sight from Dawson's. This is the one I would choose over the 17L. You can't go wrong with either one and they both use the same mags so down the road you could buy the other one.
