Favorite Country Artist?

I did not make this a Poll because it restricts too much. I know this is off topic but we all listen to some sort of music in our vehicals, homes etc... I listen to everything but Rap, I just don't get it and don't want to! My favorite County artist for a male singer is Brad Paisley, I like is Traditional Country style as well as his rather askew sense of humor ....Favorite female Artist is Shania Twain, she can really sing and by golly what a looker! If you have a favorite artist and want to list his or her best album/CD please do so....

saw brad in milwaukee last friday, he is an incredible guitarist. Also about the humor thing, he sang a very nice acoustic love song that sounded all sappy and lovey, about how his lover was mad at him and he loved her so much, he had to do something to show his love, the punchline was him putting the toilet seat down! LOL, it was great. but yes he is my favorite also because unlike most of the others, he is not only talented vocally but as a musician also.

outrider and hillbilly,
I really appreciate the traditional Country..Willie, Waylon, Merle, Johnny Cash, Clint Black...How about some nice female voices? The first time I heard Whiskey Lullaby I knew I had to have the CD. She has a voice of an angel and Brad has his usual classic sound. Heck yeah, he can play a guitar. I honestly believe he could hang with any of the contemporary rock guitasrists if he wanted to... The stuff I don't like is stuff like "Billy's Got his Beer Goggles On" and Honkey Tonk BadonkeyDonk...too overplayed and too POP.

I don't like pop-country either.
Allison Kraus is by far my favorite female vocalist.
I think Lee Ann Womack has the best traditional coutry voice this side of Dolly Parton but I'm not a big fan of her song s. Too pop lately. And I can't stand those sappy story songs. Or those insipid pseudo-patriot songs.
Modern country radio is pretty much lost on me.
Favorite patriotic country song is still Ragged Old Flag, Johnny Cash. But it's more of a reading than a song. Even though I can't stand anything else he does, Billy Ray Cyrus' "Some Gave All" still puts a lump in my throat.

I grew up listening to country & western and I don't mean that crap people pass off as country these days. If they were around in the 70's and early 90's they're OK; if they come from canada or australia they need to go back.

Some of the new guys I like; Toby Kieth for one, not so much his music as his attitude.

I have many favorites but if I could only choose one it has to be the best George Strait

He's pretty good. A few too many love songs for me. I like 'em sometimes but ol' George just loves to record them love songs....ad nauseum.
I like a good balance between serious songs, fun songs and mushy songs. Tha's why I like Willie so much.
Of course too much Willie can cause one to become a bit melancholy.
But George Strait is defininely in the top handful.
