We're just joking around in good fun, Alraicer. Nothin' personal. I don't get NASCAR either.

Thumbs up

Anybody who can withstand a 100 mile race or longer deserves my respect for their physical conditioning, if nothing more. It isn't as easy as some would like to believe. Just riding around my neighborhood for an hour or so wears me down.

I wasn't aware of the Tour De California...but I'm not surprised they have one. In my area the most popular race is the Muscular Dystrophy Assoc.(MDA) 150 mile race which is ridden over two days and raises thousands of dollars for a worthwhile cause.:right:

Any kind of racing is lost on me. Not because I don't respect the athletics of it, I just don't get what there is to watch. I guess I got a little ADD.

this is the first year for it. Some big names in the sport are there as well as large americans trying to fill the Lance void. Tour de Georgia is the other large american race which brings the big boys out I believe it will be in its 4th year. This type of racing is more close to a rally race were the overall winner isn't the guy winning all the stages.

And wetknife these guys are in better physical shape then your most elite solider and I know for a fact that some are excellent hunters and shooters.

I'm a physical kind of guy and I like the inherent violence of sport. Bicycling though is a poopy sport . Any guy who could ride a bike with those painful to the nads deats for 100 miles is wacked !

And cycling isn't violent? Have you watched a field sprint or a criterium, if they weren't going through a turn 25+mph or at a 30+degree angle they would be checking each other for position. I do have to agree that we are crazy for going out and racing insane distances but its a pain that is almost undescriable. Its the same sort of thing that gets boxers in the ring it just clicks.

alraicer...we all have our own hobbies, interests and methods of getting exercise. Some people on this forum would never believe that I spend 2-3 evenings a week and some Saturdays beating a tennis ball back and forth across a net against some very tough opponents. Like you said, there's nothing like the feeling of meeting a personal challange...plus I enjoy the competition, and it's good for my health.:right:
So I say, let each person do their own type of activity. But to do nothing is a problem.

7mmag6...I knew that you are a real pro when it comes to restoring foreign cars. How's your restored Porsche running? I've been watching those Mini's, too. Don't think I could get my feet inside one of those asprin boxes.

I'm not a fan of Bicycle racing, but I do have a nice 15 speed that a friend wanted to give to a new home. We had the "tour de California", bicycles run past out range today, and nobody paid much attention to them.

Back on the racing cars, I got my USAC Racing License a few years back, and a few races in Formula Fords, proved to me that I do not have the skills to really seriously, consider driving race cars for a living!
