| its gonna hit the fan you know us old folks are really tired of this nonsence, my mother has to pay 100 bucks a month for prescriptions more than she did, it took us about 2 days to find the right plan and even that sucked. my retirement is rapidly going in the toilet, ive had it up to my neck with republicans promises, that never turn out |

| Don't you just love the way the new plan was written, so that Medicare was forbidden to negotiate the prices of drugss with the pharmaceutical companies? And the way they just flat lied about how much it was going to cost the government and the participants? The whole thing was set up as one more giveaway program to big business. I guess the Bush Administration is only down on welfare and giving away the taxpayer's money when it might help some poor slob who needs it, instead of padding a big corporation's bottom line. |

| repubs suck as much as democraps do - cut from same cloth and this countries egg heads (red and blue) can't tell the difference. people are so frick'n stupid that they put party loyalty before freedoms or common sense or the constitution.

| A huge part of the cost of those medications is the fact that in the US, where most of the R&D happens, we have much more restrictive regulations than in other countries. Those regulations on pharma companies are costly. We pay the price for it whereas other countries with less regulation (or more regulation on price control, depending upon how you look at it) pay far less. I remember getting a prescription fairly cheap through one clinic because they were importing from the Middle East the exact same thing that was offered here in the U.S. I still have one bottle with a leftover muscle relaxant that has an overseas drug company name on the label. We have a couple of the larger drug companies right up the road in our area. There are two production plants and one huge R&D facility right in the Research Triangle area. Oddly enough, the companies are foreign owned. |
