Where to find info...?

I'm hoping to make an acedemic presentation that will include information on Ruger's attempts to corner the market by pushing for laws that only his guns could comply with. All I have is what people have told me and the facts about Ruger's guns compared to others. Are there any reputable sources for info on this?

I'd also like information on the history of the M16's malfunctions and how it was forced on the military against better judgement.
