Thumbs down There's too much junk e-mail

That's an increasing problem in Missouri/KS, too. In MO a "No Call" law has been in effect for unsolicited phone calls for about two years and it's caused my junk phone calls to almost completely stop. We were getting several junk calls daily.

Now we need to find a legal way to stop junk or unsolicited e-mail from landing on our computers. There are spam filters and other ways to eliminate certain kinds of unwanted mail but too often this eliminates forwarded messages from friends, too.

I suspect cookie preferences have something to do with some of the junk mail and other mail is blind mailed according to demographic statistics.

I get some off the wall e-mails...even found some program "Bonzi Buddy" has placed its self on my hard drive. At work we get "junk" faxes .... several big companies specialize in sending out sales flyers..letter via fax to people..like junk mail but it come by fax...a few companies sued them but lost to make them stop.

Thumbs down Fax it back to them

On the perimeter of the fax received will be the senders fax number. Before I retired, I used to return the unwanted faxes back to the original senders with a nasty note.

Don't know if it helped but at least I felt better and it used up a little of their computer time and gave them a little static.

I got the ultimate revenge on the junk mailers...

When asked to fill out the E-mails of crushes on someonelikesyou.com, I put in the junk e-mail sender addresses.

Sure, only young goofy guys like me would even waste their time on that, but hey, I got the last laugh.

No junk calls here

I go t an unlisted number and reduced my unwanted calls by 99.9%. Occasionally we will get someone who is using a block calling method and I give them a reason to wish that I was a pastor.

P.C. WORLD SAYS IF YOU GET OFF THE WALL E-MAILS-PORNO,ETC DO NOT CLICK THE UNSUBSCRIBE PART. JUST IGNORE IT AND DELETE. SOMETIMES THEIR COMPUTER SPITS OUT RANDOM E-MAILS USING EVERY LETTER OF THE ALPHABET IN EVERY WAY IT CAN. IF YOU UNSUBSCRIBE THEY WILL NOT SEND YOU ANYTHING AGAIN BUT THEY KNOW IT IS AN ACTIVE E-MAIL AND WILL SELL IT!

No email, no names, no phone number, no fax numbers, no IP address, no nothing has been sold! The only people that can even think about getting to them is Jesse and myself. And if we did that, it is against our Privacy Policy.

But porno sites, free email providers certainly do sell your email address.

1. Tella marketers: let them talk, it is wasting thier time and keeping them from calling someone eles, it also cost them more $ per call, then when they are done and want your info tell them" I'm sorry this isn't a good time for me. why don't you give me your home phone number and I'll call you back when its good for me." they usualy hang up then.

2. Faxes: I send them back to them in the largest font my fax will allow (38) it takes about 20 min. on thier end to finish it. only one was ever repeated and that wasn't a third time. No nasty note needed.

EMAILS: IF SOMEBODY KNOWS HOW TO GET RID OF THEM TELL ME PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!
EVERY TIME I CLICK THE UNSUBCRIBE LINKS ON THESE THINGS I GET TWENTY MORE. MY BLOCK LIST (500) IS ALREADY FULL.

As i put in the previous post, never hit the unsubscribe! That just lets them know thats an active e-mail address and they will sell it. Just block them for awhile and ignore them, they will go away in time.

I have no idea about the email. But I do know that unsolicited (SP?) faxes are illegal. The courts have ruled that companies whom send you an unsolicited fax can be fined up to $500.00 per fax. If you get a unsolicited fax you can make some money, enough to get a new toy.

The WORST thing you can do is reply to unsolicited email. You are only confirming it is a good address. In many states, spammers do not even have to honor an unsubscribe request and just pass your address to someone else. At my work addy, I often get spam from casinos and "psychics". I do not know how they got the email address.

someone mentioned "bonzi buddy" being downloaded. This what was put on my computer as well. I couldn't get rid of it myself, and had to take my computer to the shop. Cost $160.00 to get it cleaned and re-programmed. Someone should be responsible fro these costs.
