More evil "assault rifles" in the news

According to my local paper, police searched the home of a local suspected pot dealer, and found "a loaded AK-47 assault rifle, two unloaded SKS assault rifles, and an unloaded .38-caliber rifle."

I love the solemn roll-call of "weapons siezed" around here any time someone gets arrested. They always make it sound like sure-fire evidence that the suspect was up to no good.

What the reporters don't seem to understand is that in this neck of the woods, it's rare to find ANY home without several weapons in it, so it doesn't mean a (bleep)ing thing one way or the other.

Around here, you'll go down for that a lot harder than for dealing pot.

As it should be. Meth is much more addictive and the producers cause huge amounts of property damage with their labs.

You're right about pot vs meth, but I was talking about possession of a full auto AK.

I always laugh when I see stuff like this on t.v. A dope head gets busted with a large "deadly arsenal". Usually it consists of a rusted single shot .22, an old Rem 1100 and maybe a Jennings .380.

On top of being full auto, it was loaded. Last I knew, you weren't supposed to keep loaded weapons in the house. However, we don't know that it was fully automatic, and I don't see why they act like this was a one-man mafia.

You can't keep loaded weapons in the house? That stinks.

I still remember a picture from the late '80's or early '90's of Dan Quayle during an inspections of seized weapons from leftist rebels in the Banana Republic. He was holding an RPG-7 backwards so that the business end was pointing at him. You just gotta love the talking heads that pretend to know what they're talking about when it comes to firearms.

The law in californication is that it is against the law to have a loaded weapon if a minor gets it and causes harm or death.

If it's loaded and a minor does not get it, it is not illegal.

A friend of mine tried to convince me it was illegal to carry a concealed weapon in my own home. I never could figure out if he was right or not.

I wonder if they "seized" Cheney's 28 guage and if it was loaded?

You gotta love a guy who lives up to his reputation. I remember him dinging a kid at a spelling bee for leaving the "e" off potato, and hearing him talk about the canals on Mars.

Makes me dream that I myself can be vice pres, but I may be a little too smart. I mean I am not the best speller, I know better than to shoot a lawyer in the face and let him live.

It always angers me to hear the media potray the evils of guns and those who own them. however, the fact that the media is almost unversaly anti-gun should not surprise when wqe see them danceing in glee when the evil gun becomes known. After all, as ted turner said, "all the news that's fit to print and we decide what is fit to print." It's clear to me it's an "us" vs "them" situation, just at it always has been. Sadly, when we are not the elite, the fight is much harder.
