U.s. Troops Want Out

Are these guys pissing on Casey's grave too?

"Raising questions about Bush's vow to keep troops in Iraq as long as they are needed, a Le Moyne College/Zogby poll showed 72 percent of U.S troops serving there think the United States should exit within the next year. Nearly one in four said the troops should leave immediately.

A strategy often used by the Bush administration against opponents of the war in Iraq has been to accuse them of being unfair to troops who want to stay until they get the job done."

Must've been a pretty big job interviewing every one of our troops in Iraq.

Yeah, I know--people only believe a poll when it confirms what they already want to believe. I'm surprised at the results of this one, although I'm not shocked.

But I don't think "believing in the mission" is as important as people like Bush make it out to be anyway. That isn't why soldiers fight, in my personal experience.

They go out because that's what soldiers do: because it's their job, because they're supporting their buddies, because they have pride, because they're P.O.'d at the people who've been shooting at them, etc. Not because some politician back home is standing on his hind legs spouting off.
