I stopped at a Pawn shop on the way to the Gun show in Palmer,Alaska and was looking for a 91/30 for the Collection. They didn't have one But a Gentleman that was in the store said " I have one I will sell , If you wait I'll go get it." I said sure and about 15 minutes later he walks in and hands me a very strange looking Mosin...Bayonet lug...Hmmm. Old style sights, Small screws holding the sling tabs to the stock, Proof marks and Stampings all over the thing, No date, but a pretty nice Bore and Lots of Nasty Cosmoline.
75 dollars...He turned me down, 100 dollars, he said OK. He said He Kept a Tula For Himself,I just Grinned...Wasn't till I got online did I discover I had Bought a Finnish M28 made by SAKO, also sporting a German Capture Stamp ! What a SCORE I lucked into !
At the Gun Show, I found An Original 2 Pocket Pouch with 6 Loaded Stripper Clips for 10 bucks, and the Guy threw in another Leather Pouch and A Sling to boot...It was A GREAT Weekend For me !

Update on the Rifle...I tore it apart and Cleaned it up and went over all the stampings, I have an M28 Civil Guard Rifle(SY) assembled in the Sako Plant. The Receiver is a Very Early 1897 Tula, The Bolt is a Very Early Izhevsk, And The barrel is a SIG and It has A high "SA" stamp, and the Stock has a "Deutsch" Capture Mark.It also Has the "D" stamp showing it was chambered for the D166 Finnish Cartridge. So all in all the Gun is in the 7% category ,Making it a pretty rare one !

the "D" mark, usually found on the chamber, but sometimes on the rear sight base. This indicates that the throat of the rifle was opened up to allow use of the Finnish D166 round which required more room for the larger ogive of the bullet.
