Today was just too nice not to go out and do something. A couple buddies and I went trail riding with our KLR bikes. One guy motored over from Panama City - about 115 miles as the crow flies. We all met at a corner store, then rumbled out to the Cascade Lakes area that Gerald and I had ridden before. It was Steve's (the PC dude) first time in there. It's picturesque and a good place for newbies. We rode up (carefully!) on two horses with riders - took it slow and easy passing by them. Later, saw a guy paddling a canoe around one smaller lake.
We rode up out of there, and motored down south of town to do a late breakfast at a little country eatery. Yummm . . . good Southern cookin'! :cheer:
Stoked with scrambled eggs, grits, bacon and Sweet Tea, we hit the highway down to the area we rode earlier at our big rally. We did about fifteen miles of more technical single-track in there, behind the big Members-only shooting range. We could here them pooping off in the distance.
I only dropped the Thunder Lizard in the dirt once - actually a slow-mo laydown alongside a slender pine tree! I got into some soft crap and lost momentum - better to lay down gracefully than get on the throttle and probably pile it into a tree.
Picked her up, brushed her off and cranked back up.
We saw no one out there today - tracks but no other bikes. Too bad - it was one BEEYOOTIFULL day!! Clear, sunny, warmish but not hot. Perfect day for outdoors stuff. :guitar:
I had to break off early to get back home and clean up for the Sunday Family Dinner. Gerald and Steve were motoring over to another trail area I haven't seen yet. Well, maybe next time!
Motoring on the highway today, lots of bikes out! Coming home finally this evening, I tucked in behind five thundering Harleys. I felt like the nerdy 'little brother' in a road movie.
