After I configured my 870 Express into a deer/turkey setup I realized that it wouldn't work too well for phesants and quail (excuse for new gun). I stopped by a local shop and saw that he had NIB Franchi I12's for $600, and fell in love. It just had to follow me home, The fit and finish on this is great. Hopefully the weather will cooperate tomorrow so i can destroy a couple clays. This is the photo that is on Franci's website (I'll take more when i fget the time)

Well, I got out to shoot it today. I put about 35 rounds of the cheap Winchester 7/8 ounce loads and about 30 heavier hunting loads. It cycled perfectly, even on the cheap stuff. It seems very ballanced, nice and light for carrying through the field all day. It points very intuitivley (I have no idea if I spelled this correctly). I hit 3/4 of the clays that I shot at, a little better than I've done with my 870 (semiauto is very nice for followup shots). Overall I'm quite happy with my purchase.

I took a serious look at the franchi when I dedicated my 870 to the slug world as you did. I like it, but settled on the Sx2 due to the gas system. I assume the recoil is about the same as the benelli (I think franchi is a division of benelli like stoeger?) My brothers benelli isn't to bad on recoil, untill the heavier/faster duck loads are used.

Nice gun!
Thanks, one question though, why do you prefer the Sx2's gas system over the inertia driven system. I'm just learning, please bear with me
The gas system seems to shoot a little softer to me. That said, the inertia isn't too bad. The inertia systems are easier to clean, but I don't mind cleaning a gun.
The inertia type gun points nice as a field gun due to less parts. The gas gun is a bit heavier, but typically sits in a blind or pit.
