Country trio the DIXIE CHICKS are planning to re-ignite their feud with US President GEORGE W BUSH in a provocative new song. The group sparked controversy when singer NATALIE MAINES publicly criticised Bush during a concert in London in 2003 - and fans staged bonfires, where they burned CDs and merchandise after calling the girls traitors. That led to Maines sobbing during an apologetic interview on US TV. But the feisty singer remains defiant and has penned new tune NOT READY TO MAKE NICE, which addresses the controversy surrounding her concert comments. Maines teamed up with former SEMISONIC frontman DAN WILSON to write the song, which begins, "Forgive, sounds good/Forget, I'm not sure I could/They say time heals everything/But I'm still waiting." The provocative track will appear on the Dixie Chicks' upcoming album TAKING THE LONG WAY HOME, which was produced by RICK RUBIN and features guest appearances from RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS drummer CHAD SMITH and guitarist MIKE CAMPBELL. The album also features the song I HOPE, which the Dixie Chicks wrote with blues star KEB' MO' as a tribute to the victims of Hurricane Katrina last year (05).

Yep, they got their right to say what they want. And I have the right to not listen to them or buy their crap.
Sorry, I just feel it's very bad form to diss one's own government on a foreign stage. She should keep her personal views out of her professional life. Many folks would lose their jobs for doing this kind of thing. Why should she be special? :guitar:

BD I think that was the biggest problem people had with her comments. She had been pretty quiet on her views until she went to a foriegn stage, one whose own corrupt government was in bed with Hussein, to cast disparaging remarks about the government.
Did she believe what she was saying; Yes, I believe she did. Did she mean to say those things there hoping to not be held accountable for them; YOU BETCHA! Did it bite her in the @$$; ABSOLUTELY!

I think their mad becausethey lost the big bucks they were getting from albums. They cut their own purse strings and now they're trying to get back at the fans who dumped them. I dont think it's about Bush anymore rather it's about saving face.
I saw Drew Carey in an interview last week. He doesnt like to discuss politics because he says he doesnt want to lose half his fans. He worked hard to get his fan base and he appreciates his fans. The Dixie Chiks basically told half their fans to kiss off.
