Has anyone had the chance to shoot some of this new LEVERevolution ammo from Hornady? It looks like it ought to be a pretty good thing. The idea is so simple I'm surprised nobody thought of it before. Ballistic tips soft enough that they don't dent the primers in front of them in a tube mag. but hard enough to retain their point. The NRA review had some really amazing results on 30-30 rounds. They were actually zeroing at 200 yd. And it had over 900 ft. lbs. of energy at 300 yd. compaired to the old stuff's 500-600 ft. lbs.
If anybody's tested any I'd be interested to hear about it. I haven't seen any yet. They did say that Hornady mixed up a special powder so you couldn't get the same results from hand loads. That stinks!

Can`t speak from experience yet but as soon as i find some in .35 i`ll try
them in my Marlin 336.
If they are as good as advertised how can you go wrong?
At the time the NRA article was printed they were only making it in 3 chamberings. I think it was 30-30, .450, and I can't remember the third one. But it said more were coming.

They're making it in 30-30Win, 35Rem, 444Marlin, 45-70Gov, 450Marlin. Now if they'd add 44mag to their list I'd be set.
Edit: Jerry, I've heard that they're using a special powder so don't expect similar performance out of handloaded cartridges with those new bullets sitting up top
Yeah the NRA article said they had developed their own powder mix so hand loads didn't perform near as well. It would still probably be better than the old stuff.

I used it in my 30-30, and I won't ever shoot anything else again.
It's a Marlin 336 with a Weaver 4x scope. Before, I could shoot about a 2-3" group at 100yds. I shot this stuff, and was hitting the top of the paper aiming where it was sighted in dead on with the standard ammo. It seriously affects the trajectory. Once I got it sighted in, my 3 shot group was a little cloverleaf.
I will say this... we tried it in my buddy's Win 30-30 with open sights, and I couldn't get the sights to adjust enough to get the bullets hitting paper. I don't know if the sights were messed up, of if I didn't know what I was doing, but keep that in mind if you're considering it. It's like a totally different round.
