If so, there's a free site called itsyourturn.com that's turn-based. In other words, you go there and move, then your opponent goes there and moves whenever he gets around to it. You can move once a day or whatever, or if you're both online at the same time you can crank out moves and maybe even play a full game.
When I worked away from home I played a lot of chess at IYT, but after I was transferred back home I let it slide. This week it finally dawned on me: "Dohhh, you're stuck at home recuperating, and about the only contact you have with the world is online. Why aren't you playing chess?"
So I started up again. If anyone wants to have a friendly game, let me know and I'll tell you how to get going (although it's pretty self-explanatory if you go to the site).
I'm decent but no Bobby Fischer; I just like the game.
By the way, they also have other games, such as checkers, battleship, go, gomoku, othello, backgammon, etc. Unless I was just being polite, I mostly stuck to chess. But I usually kept a game of some sort going with my wife, because you can send a message with each move and it was a good way to keep in touch daily without racking up phone bills.
Last game of chess I played was over ten years ago. Before that for several years I played a lot of chess but just friendly games with my family and friends.
I've always played chess. My neighbor next,(when I was growing up)was like
the chess Army champion for his batillion. So he taught me and his son.I never
beat him in a game but at least he taught me some stragety.Iam now teaching my son how to play,he's 8 yrs old and he loves it.
