Seems pretty reasonable. My dad flew over with a new shotgun one year. Wasn't hard.
At least they are letting us transport them nowadays.

It can be in the same suit case just not the same container in the case. I carry on commercial airlines regulary -- if in doubt always contact the airline

I noticed the airline I flew on recently also wanted it marked clearly on the container Firearm in large letters. (American Airlines)

To be marked on the Outside as a Firearm is a VIOLATION of Federal Law !

The Tag must be placed inside the case and then locked!

Federal Law does NOT allow for a firearm in Transport by a Common Carrier to be Labeled as such on the outside...Somebody screwed up Bigtime! I would Contact the Airline Company and let them know which Airport this was done at so they could Train the Staff accordingly!

I believe it has been this way for many years. I traveled to Wisconcin once and brought several guns with me. There was no problem as long as packed as per Shaun's instructions.

Many people don't know that the only way to keep the TSA out of your suitcase and to actually have a lock on it you have to have a gun in your case.

International Civil Air Organization regulations only allow 5 kg (11 lb) of small arms ammunition per passenger for personal use. Some airlines have smaller limits.

When I flew to Michigan back in 2001 I had to show the check in people the pistol in my checked baggage was unloaded, they put a bright orange card with a magnetic strip inside the guncase, which I locked, the suitcase it travelled in also had to be locked, there was NO tag or card outside of the suitcase. In the same suitcase I also had 2 50 round boxes of ammo. I flew on the 1st flights they allowed after 9-11, security was twitchy with good cause, but as long as everything is in order and all the rules are followed, flying with fireamrs is fairly hassle free.
