Hey 7 you gotta remember they are "in the field" there might not be that many barbers around. Also if I remember my history correctly during WWII Chesty Puller was the first CO to have his men cut their hair before going into combat to help prevent lice. It wasn't until after Korea that the high and tight became standard "wear". Until then the Corps had "long hair" just like the Army and Navy.
