I'm thinking Nosler's Partition Gold. I think the Fail Safe leans too much towards the FMJ end of the scale for most NA game.

You'll be right about grain-fed whitetail. There's no comparison between the marsh grass venison from around Delta marsh vs alfalfa and barley fed freeloaders!

I've shot a lot of deer with a Rem 700 30-06, but only recently started hunting with my Garand. Seems like they made bear hunting illegal in Florida several years ago even though the bears never thought they were endangered. We have corn planted in our hunting club and it seems to draw more bears than deer, and even though I wouldn't shoot one illegally, I feel better with the Garand in case one wants to sit in my tree with me.

Hey Don
season's getting closer, what's the consensus on CWD in your neck of the woods?

M1 HUNTING

HUNTED WITH A M1 IN THE 50'S. NEVER HAD TO SHOOT MORE THAN ONCE. THEN SWICHED TO A MARLIN 444. NOW USING A M1 CARBINE .50 AE CONVERSION.

CWD doesn't seem to have made it into the mainstream of Missouri white tail deer (yet!). MODOC is requesting that hunters this year save heads of kills for examination. We have no major elk or mulie populations so the chance of those breeds infecting our resident deer is slim.

HELLO DANA
MY FATHER HAS MACULAR DEGENERATION ALSO. HE HAD GIVEN UP HUNTING. THEN WE PUT AN AIMPOINT RED DOT SCOPE ON HIS RIFLE AND FIRST HOUR OUT HE KNOCKS DOWN TWO WHITETAIL.
MY BROTHER AND I HAD TO THREATEN TO TAKE IT OFF AGAIN, SO AS HE'D BEHAVE AND LEAVE A FEW DEER FOR THE REST OF US!

DIDN'T KNOW THERE WAS AN AE50 CONVERSION. SOUNDS INTERESTING! I HAVE A 44MAG RUGER LEVER, AND BIG BULLETS DEFINITELY HAVE THEIR ADVANTAGES.

Manitoba; No real signs of CWD in Saskatchewan yet that have been reported. I believe the wildlife people had one case last year and I don't remember where it was actually. Looking forward to the hunt his year. Last two weeks of Nov here.

Went deer hunting with some buddies right after I had gotten out of the Army.(my first time in service) And the only thing I had that I could use was my 1st M-1 a post war Springfeild in 42xxxxx range.
Well after getting razzed buy them cause they had all the cool guy hunting stuff and the scoped Winchesters and Remingtons and I had this "old cannon" as they called it we set out.
And after a better part of the morning Jon spots a nice 6 point and scopes it in, gets buck fever and shoots. It hit but the deer jumps and takes off. Running paralell and below my position at about 200 yards, so I peer down the sights lead a tad and a touch high in my point of aim and Bang! The buck drops like a sack of Sh**. Well the razzing of my old cannon stopped after that shot but that was the only time I've hunted with it. I have a K98 that was sporterized before I purchaced it along with a 03 Springfeild that was also sporterized that I received from a friend of the family after he passed on. The K98 dropped a moose with a 220 grain bullet a few years ago with one shot but I'll even say that was a lucky shot. I was amazed when it fell, I had already reloaded and was bringing the rifle up for the second when it fell after two steps.
