I think the corn oil is the way to go from what I've read and seen on TV. What do you think?

cellulose ethanol seems to be the wave of the future, it burns more efficiently than corn derived ethanol, and the supply of materials to make cellulose ethanol is always regenerating.Brazil uses sugar cane derived ethanol, and has been for YEARS. Sugar cane ethanol is more efficiant than corn derived, but cellulose still seems to give the most energy per unit.

Well, (adjusting my tin foil hat) I think it's all a pack-O-lies. Been hearing all these excuse for why.......nobody wants to address the issue of the money! If oil be at such a high price, and.....refinerie ain't got nun.........tree hugger's won't let us drill for non.......liberals are the ones who done it......."the country's a-wash in oil" (Fox news, last night).....explain to me how it is that the oil companies got RECORD profits! Yes, it's not against the law to charge as much as you want for the stuff you got to sell. but, the country is in a time of crisis....duh, we are still at war with them terrorists, our economy is in the crapper (I don't give a hoot what bush says, unless flippin' burgers is what you call a carreer....) , I just don't think now is the time to fleece America and trifle with Her economy. At the very least, what the oil companies are doing is immoral. They should be brought to thier knees and punished for thier crimes against America and Her people! The sword to the greedy oil barrons!

Cool

Claims have been made for several years that we have enough oil in shale to last 100 years or more,it has just been too expensive to get it. Now that the prices are up it has been claimed that it is now economicaly feasible,we don't need corn to creat corn shortages and drive the prices up more so the wheels get more grease!

I think there has to be a decent amount of oil out there. In Saudi Arabia they have enough to fuel the world for a while, but it wont last forever. We all know that it will run out eventually and we have to be prepared for that sinario. If we don't get an alternative fuel source by the time the oil runs out nobody is going anywhere.

You guys think gas prices are high. I kind of laugh because us spoiled Americans have it so easy. In Irelad it is way over 4 bucks a liter. Mexico it is over 5 bucks a gallon. As a matter of fact, gas costs less in America than anywhere else in the world. In Englad they pay a fine if found driving without a passenger.

Wow... that would be quite an excuse to get a date.

Guys, folks who've talked to those elsewhere in the world know why gas elsewhere is so much higher. TAXES. Few countries are as free as we are, ie not socialist. Beint anti-free market and anti-free travel, socialist governments would obviously target fuel for oppressive taxation.

I lived in Ireland for 11 months last year. They are just as free as us and have less taxes. THey were nothing but nice to me. Yes the cost of living is very expensive, but the pay scale is very good. It was 4 dollars a liter then and people had no choice but to buy it. We don't have it that bad.

I don't want to come off as an American hater or anything like that. All I am saying is that compared to the rest of the world what we pay for gas is not that bad. It is cheaper here than anywhere else in the world, even Autrallia.

There's parts of Australia where the petrol is very expensive, basically once your out of the city you pay, and buy pay I mean you pay a lot. It's alway's been like that to. Including at a town that's maybe 20km away from a big refinery.

There`s always someone worse off though, isnt there? Wirehunt Would pay a bit more than me for fuel in NZ.. Remember when you couldn`t buy fuel in NZ over the weekend? Screw that! I was talking the whole fuel price thing with the old man, we were discussing when will our cars be obsolete? Soon? But then I remembered petrol is the equivilant of 2.25 - 2.50 AUD in Germany.. This morning I listened to a program on the radio. a guy was in Venuesula ( spl ) and his friend put 25 litres in the car, and it cost a dollar... You don`t wanna hear stuff like that, do you? I didnt after I paid 57 bucks for 47 litres and I live where juice is cheap in my country... I am wondering at what stage my weekly fuel bill will match my car loan repayment.. Like that decal: Own the car! Paying off the petrol!!

Perth only started selling fuel in the weekend's a few year's ago, I couldn't beleive it when I first went there. Have a look at what there paying for it in WA Johnny, it's normally a lot dearer than the eastern states. I think NZ pay's about the same as WA when you take the exchange rate into it.

here in QLD, we generally have cheaper fuel than other states becuase of the government thingy I can`t remember what, if it`s a rebate or whatever, but it`s nearly always cheaper in metro Brisbane than anywhere else.

Wink

Prices seem to have kinda stabalized, hope they hold,at least for a bit.
Ever notice how they shoot up and when the noise gets too great they fall back a fraction of the increase and folks say,"Dang, had me worried for a while."I remember Bush going on TV saying how the price of gas had fallen and the next day it started back up.
S.O.S.!

I care less about the government's cut of $.30 than the $1.00 of pure profit that goes into ExxonMobil's pocket.
$3.00 - .30 = $2.70/gal or
$3.00 - 1.00 = $2.00/gal
Which would you rather pay?
