I got the revolver. Beautifull little gun. $75 from SOG never been used, had to clean off all the cosmo inside. They just clean up the outside. I don't know why I didn't go ahead and order ammo with it. I went by a local gun shop and picked up some .32 S&W long. it's really sloppy in the chambers. I don't think I'll try it. it's marked 7.62x38R but that's the importer's mark. I think I'll order the 7.62 Nagant russian atuff from SOG. can't wait to shoot it. On both mine and my dad's the front sight is not driven all the way into the dovetail. it's slightly off-center to the right. That's an easy fix though. I've got several front sight pushers.

Got some russian ammo. Mine actually shoots pretty good. It's got some cycle problems, It doesn't want to cycle more than half way in double action and the same thing if you thumb the hammer too slowly. but when it shoots it does very well. I put all 7 rounds in a 4 inch section of a 2X4 at 15 yards.

Or at least I'll be paying for it. I was telling my sixteen-year-old about them today, and guess what he wants for Christmas? He thinks it would make a nice accessory for the 'Peter The Great' m91 Mosin Nagant that I bought him last year.

Some day I'll learn to just shut up...
I called Classic Arms today, and ordered the kid a revolver.
Yeah, I know. This is California and he can't own any gun at sixteen, much less a handgun. So it'll be in my name, under my control in my safe, and he can use it any time he wants until he's of age as long as I'm with him. No problem; we always go shooting together anyway.
I was a little disappointed in Classic Arms, though. Their website said most of their Nagants were pre-1900. So I sent them an FFL and spent three days calling them before I got through, only to have Ben say, "wow. I guess it's been a while since we updated the ad. Those were the ones we used to have; the ones we carry now are mostly from the forties."
No practical difference, I suppose. I think about everything out there has been re-arseneled anyway. But the kid was a little jazzed about getting one with an 1800's date on it...
Just purchased revolver (July 2, 2011) for person who decided he didn't want it. I have been checking this gun out, seems interesting. Went to Navrant M1895 Wikipedia and found best ammo to use is 7.62/38mm. I have a few questions.
Not sure what year/model this gun is. Stamped on gun (appears to be) "MMNEPATOPOK" and other lettering with backward letters and the number "1905". Gun appears to be in very good condition and came with a nice holster, with pouch for ammo.
Could someone give out some info on this revolver? What year, maybe? Any other info would be greatly appreciated. I paid $135. Would like to fire weapon, maybe keep it. Thanks to all.......
C&C, for the best info, try the guys on the M1895 Nagant subforum at Tuco's Gunboards (gunboards_dot_com). They have some VERY knowledgable fellers who are Nagant-collecting gurus!
Sounds like a 1905 production date though - well within it's production years. And the pre-Soviet dates are much more sought after! If it still has the Imperial crest (most were scrubbed by the Soviets) then it's value is greater.
Ammo availability is spotty - Fiocci makes some (pricey!) and the Russian ammo can still be found on occasion - but their 'target' ammo isn't up to military velocity standards - it's wimpy.
This round is so very easy to handload though! If you are already reloading, then just add the Lee Nagant Dies, and a box of .32-20 brass. Bullets and powder/primers make for cheap loading and fun shooting! The cases last forever, with nice moderate loads.
Thanks Big Dog. Just stumbled on these forums. Saw how old the posts were and was surprised to get an answer. I've seen some of these guns with a big "star" on the frame, but this one does not have it, just the writing that I described. Although there is a small star stamped on the trigger and the hammer. I'll give those forums a shot. Again, thanks!!!
