Thumbs up From Bill Frist (email)

I am looking forward to President Bush's speech tonight on border security and immigration. I encourage you to watch it.

In the Senate we have restarted the debate on the critical issues of border security and immigration. Over the next ten days, 20 amendments will be offered by Republicans. Many of these amendments if passed by the full Senate would strengthen the border security and interior enforcement provisions of the bill. We must secure our borders first.

One such amendment that will be introduced by Senator Jeff Sessions would meet the demand for real fencing, constructing an additional 370 miles of triple-layered fencing and 500 miles of vehicle barriers along the areas of our border with Mexico that are most often used by smugglers and illegal aliens. This fencing is to be constructed immediately and will be completed within two years of the passage of this border security legislation. This fencing mileage, combined with provisions in the bill on the Senate floor that authorize other technologies asked for by the border patrol to keep our borders fully surveyed so they can intercept those who cross the border as quickly as possible, will go far to enhancing our border security and keeping America safer.

I strongly support this amendment.
Senator Bill Frist

I think the cost of fencing would soon pay for itself, in terms of social services saved. I doubt it will ever happen like we want it to.

I can't wait to hear Bush's BS in this speech. I've always tried to give the guy the benefit of the doubt, I think I've had enough smoke blown up my you-know-what that I'm getting a little tired of it.

3 guys with an M2 (Ma Deuce) (belt fed fitty for those who are still trying to figure out M2 or Ma Deuce) every thousand yards would be a really good start in my book!

"W" is already stirring it up about deploying Nat'l Guard troops, give 'em fitty's and call Summit Ammo if the ammo starts getting low and the guvment can't send it fast enough!

A few Dillon Aero mini guns wouldn't be a bad idea either, the newest versions are pretty darn impressive! They're like 7.62 caliber water hoses!

Yes, I am disappointed. But, it's just as expected....pandering to the criminals. The one's who have been here the longest represent the "hardened" criminals and should be deported with great haste. They think because they have been here, breaking the law, it's okay and we should continue to ignore their collective criminal behaviour......not to mention, reward their lawless acts with amnesty so they can remain here, illegally, while we pander to their "special" circumstances. I was told, by immigration, that if my friend from China came here illegally (without an American issued visa) and she were caught......she would be deported and forever denied entry into America regardless of circumstance! Why are these beaners given special rules? The whole thing angers me beyond words. The very idea America says we are a fair country with freedom and opportunity for all is the way we show our face to the world when discrimination is the norm and special interests call the shots, makes America take Her place amoung a host of great liars. I was so disappointed with his speech. But, I was not surprised to see him lying, his usual trademark. I even think I saw his nose growning longer and longer as his speech went on. Good thing for bush, his speech was only 15 minutes long.

Seems that the Berlin Wall was supposed to eliminate passage of undesirable's too. But years later it came tumbling down with a big crash.

And...the Great Wall was designed to prevent invaders of China...but it leaked, too.

Then there was Hadrian's Wall in northern England. It kept the legions busy, but couldn't keep the Scot's out.

Hopefully, we learned something from these failures.

Exactly Oxford, we need to help stop the corruption in Mexico and make it a better place for those that live there. That will stop people from breaking into our country and instead keep them at home to better their own country.

it wouldn't hurt to attach harsh penalties to being caught as an illegal. or, hiring an illegal.

I thought they were already there...its kinda like the 20,000 gun laws that are on the book, but hardly ever enforced.

Thumbs down

I find the whole situation, both foreign and domestic in this country disgusting.
Folks can defend Bush all they want,he may not be guilty of everything, but the buc is supposed to stop at his office as he IS top dog,or is he just a vertual leader with invisible strings?
Too much for me,perhaps some folks with connections know better, but again,if they had connections they too would keep a lid on it.
Disgusting.
