Dixie Chicks
I have sent the email below to all the affiliates of Columbia records as well as Columbia records it self.
I urge you to do the same!
Only through the money in their pockets can we make them realize we do not want our entertainers making up our political views or opinions.
They are entertainers and as such should do just that and only that, they are not elected officials nor anyone who’s opinion should be counted or held in a greater weight than any of us who are not in the public eye.
Please follow the link below and send them your thoughts.
“This is to let you know that I find your record labels choice to back produce and distribute the “trash” being promoted as music by the Dixie Chicks is totally out of place and I’m ashamed of your label for promoting it.
I know that you also produce and distribute many other artists that have accepted that their place is as entertainers and not political advocates and as such know not to use their record label or venues as a soap box.
To them I feel sorry, for as of the release of “taking the long way” I will be boycotting any and all releases and or services by Columbia records or its affiliates.
Columbia records
Epic records
Sony classical
Sony Nashville
Legacy recordings
Sony wonder
As record labels you should know when to tell your artists “not here” they are entertainers. If they want to express their given right to political opinions they should do it like everyone else and not ruin the entertainment industry with their opinions.”
It's funny how people say it's censorship not to buy their records or when radio stations refuse to play their music. The way I see it, it is the radio station's choice to play what they want. If the Commie Chicks can say whatever they want, then it applies to others as well.

I don't think it as censorship as much as i do telling them that there is a time and place for such comments.
while representing the US while overseas is not one of them, nor is forcing it on us when we pay to hear them sing.
I don't all together disagree with them on some things. but i do not think that they should be given a free pass to use the record label or concerts to force what they think on us.
My beef here is not with what they said but where they say it.
if you want your entertaiment industry dictating political views on you even at a concert than by all mean ignor this post. if on the other hand you feel that entertainers should stick to what they are paid to do and leave the political speaches to the ppl we have elected to do such. than please copy and paste if you like or tell them in your own words. to stop promoting entertainers who would turn entertainment into a political soap box.

I don't understand how the Dixie Chick's political opinions somehow turn their music into "trash." If their music is good, it's good. If it sucks, kissing Bush's hiney isn't going to make it better.
If someone paints my house, I don't check out his political beliefs before I decide whether he did a good job or not. And if I'm listening to a piece of music, I don't check out the composer's politics before I decide whether I'm supposed to be enjoying it or not;.
well...Pepsi is a pretty good product to me. I do not support Pepsi, as they support Handgun Control groups and such. There are a list of companies I try very hard not to support, but I do not go out of my way to make the point.

Although it isn't the way I usually operate, it makes sense to me that a person might not want someone he disagrees with prospering on his dime.
But feeling that way doesn't turn the Pepsi into toilet water, or the Dixie Chicks' music into gangstah rap.

IT is a free country and they can have whatever views they want. Most of the holloywood political activists are crazy and not to be taken seriously anyways so lighten up because who cares what they think, they don't live in the real world anyway.
