I went to an Airshow today celebrating the birthday of Arnold AFB in Tullahoma TN, It was an outstanding show with f15's, f16, F18's, then the real planes B17, B24, B25, T28 Trojans, P47's, P51's, TBM (flying turkey), Grummans, a full stock PT17 Stearman, Zero's, Mig 17 and a couple of F86's. The stunts were done in Pitts and by PattyWagstaff.com and several others.
In terms of memorial? I'm not doing anything. But today we drove out of town to my girlfriend's uncle's house and looked at his gun collection. It's amazing! At the VERY LEAST 100,000$ worth of guns. He had a large gun safe bolted to the ground inside of a garage that had a motion sensor below it (if someone tried to move it), motion sensor in front, above, beside, and in the windows. It was an incredible security system. I forgot to mention that he has a Class III license. All of these are the fully automatic variants: He had like 5 Colt AR15s w/ surpressors. To go with it, he had about 20 or so extra uppers. Had an M16, a few bushmasters, a Polytech woodfinish AK47, a Norinco AKS underfolder, an Uzi w/ fixed stock, HK 53, HK MP5, Accuracy International Artic Warfare Magnum (.308 sniper rifle. Commonly known as the AWP in counter-strike). A Ruger 10/22, many other .22's, a Remington 870 Police Magnum (shortest shotgun I've seen in my life and it's legal! That's what's amazing). Les Baer 1911, HK USP, Beretta 92F w/ silencer, Smith and Wesson 38 special, Springfield XD... there were many more but I can't remember it all. It was amazing. They were all in perfect condition, that's the cool thing about it! He said we could shoot them the next time we come up. He said he had about 100,000 rounds at home. That's alot! He had a whole extra safe just for magazines! I was awestruck! Then we went to eat at a nice Greek restaurant and a local strip mall. It was fun.
I was in Texas over the weekend. Went there for my cousins graduation. They live in a suburb of Dallas and Sat. my uncle and aunt took my father and I to downtown Dallas to the area where Kennedy was shot. It was very different then what I had expected to see. From just seeing video and stuff about it I always thought the area was bigger then what it really is. It was also wierd in the sense of what took place there. Very interesting and very saddening at the same time. But man what a drive from ND to TX.
spending the weekend? heh.. so far, sitting in the basement with the tornado sirens going off 2 1/2 miles away then it headed off. going to get my lady and go shooting with her and my parents.. have our new 9mm to try out and ive had to wait a week for the 'rents to decide they were ready to go.. i needless to say was a bit more impatient. but heck, between the 4 of you im getting jealous.. jets, texas, ribs, and guns i cant afford?
Location: Virginia, just outside of Washington D.C.
I spent Saturday fishing for Rock fish on the Chesapeake Bay. Sunday I attended my son's and his girlfriends College graduation party (BBQ). Today I'm being lazy and watching war flicks on TV, The Desert Rats is about over, Sink the Bismarck is next.
Saturday, yard work. The grass really liked our recent rain.
Sunday, surfing the net, then Sunday Dinner at the parent's home.
Monday, hit the range early - gotta do the 'fireworks'! My buddy brought his Garand, so I brought the Opposition - the M48 Mauser.
Watching several Memorial Day specials on PBS. Also, I have several good War Movies on VHS/DVD.
I'm on my way to Mansfield Massachusetts to deliver on Tuesday. I arrived in Westfield Massachusetts Saturday afternoon and have a couple of days off. I went to my friends house and repaired an HF receiver, took down a tower section and mounted the antenna on the garage, then we flew the Hughes 500D to Block Island for lunch.
Life is too important to be taken seriously.
I went up to the moutains of Northern Arizona and had a good time up there, it was nice to get away from the heat. Today, Monday, I am going to the indoor shooting range with the 1911 and lots of ammo.
Came home by myself a day early from a family get-to-gather at my daughter's home in NW Missouri. Even left my wife there...but she'll ride home with my other daughter who lives 15 minutes away.
Needed to take care of my garden, etc. because of the unusual dryness and heat in Kansas city. (Edited...it started raining about an hour after writing the above comment. Now the temperature is down to 78 and we've received about an inch of rain and it's still coming down.):right:
So...who knows what sort of trouble I can stir up around here. Might even drink one of these...:cheer:
Just fried up and ate the rockfish from Saturday. Ummmm, with slaw, fries and hush puppies.
Dallas, Where did you put out to do your fishing? The weather was pretty warm but not bad overall. I spent the weekend finishing up odd jobs around the house and for a few friends. Thanks to all the Vets out there. Yall, take care.
