Bear in Alaska almost parallels my story from Saturday.
My wife let the dogs out Friday night and they went after something in their out building. Saturday she went out ther and found a racoon under some stuff. She grabbed her 30/30 and went back.
She was not able to get a clear shot on it so I went back out with my Glock 23 and capped it with a practice round in the head. These were plated lead bullets cruising at 750fps. Just the thing for close range shooting down at a coon on a concrete floor.
When we drug it outside she shot it in the heart with her Glock 19. We threw it out over the hill to attract other varmints.
No worries about Bear but there are lots of coyotes and we have heard about but not seen big cats.
Several years back we were at our private range shooting handguns when a big woodchuck came out right in our line of fire. I figured he was sick or deaf to come toward gun fire so I dispatched him with one shot from my s&w 645. I never trust an animal thats not afraid of me.
Another fine example of lead posioning occurring in the home, and after all this time you would think people would get the picture of just how toxic lead can be! (Especially lead tripping along at 900+FPS)
