I picked up a box of HP CCI's for my Henry GoldenBoy .22. I used them side by side with Federals and could detect no difference in accuracy. They seemed to vary more in "sound" than the Federals, some really quiet, most really loud. The bullet itself looks higher quality, with nice copper plating and a uniform hollow point. However, they do not feed very well at all in my gun. The Federals feed perfectly every time, I've never had one jam. However, the CCI's were very stiff and did not allow the lever to completely lock, there was some play left in it. I'm going to try one more box of CCI's, some higher velocity ones this time, and maybe just keep a few around for really killing stuff.
BTW I got a squirrel with a Federal SP at about 15 yards. Nice feeling when he fell, its the third I've shot at but first I got. I need to 1.) get more accurate and 2.) sight my gun in better.
It's not that anything is wrong with the CCI ammo, it's just that all .22 ammo is slightly different. What works well and is accurate in one gun will probably not be the same with another. In my ruger 10/22 Remington and CCI shoot best.
I guess every gun is different! What shoots in RealEstateMans 10/22 is my 10/22's least favorite. It doesnt like the CCI unless I spend the big bucks for the Green Tag stuff.
Mine likes the Federals which is fine with me. Its usually cheaper.
The MarkII pistol likes the CCI but not Federals. I buy both brands but use them in different guns.
